Thoughts on your preferred (officially released, fully endorsed, Paisley stamp of approval, Prince permitted), extended version or remix track? Alternatively, are there any released remixes that differ enough to the degree you feel they actually better the original album arrangements? Obviously this will be highly subjective based on personal preference but it will be interesting to hear your thoughts.

I thought the remixes on Rave in2 the Joy Fantastic were much better than Rave Un2. Also the Mustang Mix of TMBGITW. Love that one...

I actually don't like remixes much, I always feel the song is best in its original form.

I like the extended versions of "U Got The Look" and "Let's Go Crazy" very much.

All of the 80's releases are better than their short versions, except Kiss. Whatever he did was just plain unnecessary.

I have a hard time listening to the edited version of "Erotic City." I need that bass rolling over that long intro. "Let's Go Crazy" is hard to listen to in its shorter from too. Same for the extended intro of "Raspberry Beret," although it gets a little repetitious on the backside.

Also, not necessarily better than the original, but I love the Acoustic and Funky Stuff remixes of "Space."

I love most of the old 12" versions, the above are essential, more so than their shorter counterparts.

I really dig the "Letitgo" Sherm Stick remix vocal and the instrumental version. Dark and haunting. I wouldnt replace it with the album version but as a stand alone remix it measures equally up to the album version. The use of the "Dorothy Parker" sample is a killer flip.

yeh, I think the Kiss extended isn't all that. I get the idea, but it doesn't seem to work.

The video mix of Partyman is way better, the song really goes into party time when the second part starts, the bass, Candy. Should have been on the album.

Let's go crazy is getting really wild in the extended version. The intro of Rasberry beret with the funky guitar beats the original big time.

LRC, the scream at the extended version are actually the highlight of the song.

so...a lot of extended versions beat the original.

i usually think the extended version is the original and the album version is just edited....and who wants edited versions???

I understand your point when referring to the extended versions. But a lot of the songs posted here actually are remixes. A lot of times will even use the word "mix" in parentheses.

The Hot Thing extended mix is awesome, I much prefer it to the original. Also, the extended version of U Got The Look is pretty good too.

I Love the( Push Pull ) remix of Black Sweat and there was a really good remix of Shhhh but its been taken off.........it was pure sex on a stick......I have a few different remixs of Controversy which my best ever Prince song.....
