GOD IS ALIVE Dear .Org,
I may be mistaken but I rarely see this unique Prince song ever critiqued. I absolutely love the scene with him at the mixing desk, working his studio wizardry with Mavis.
Was Prince right to keep God Is Alive in the Vault or would you have liked it to have seen the light of day? And what album could it perhaps still feature on?

Great song. It would have fit on Graffiti Bridge. TRUE BLUE

I could've seen it on Lovesexy or Graffiti Bridge. The sad thing is that songs like this and 'The Line' with Boni on lead were already hard fits for projects and then they just get sent to the vault. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Prince is a miracle on this song! He just soars! The guitar and everything just sounds so PERFECT!
I love IT! I listen to it SO often! As far as where it will fit?...
I would say maybe as a B-Side to 'Lovesexy' or it could have very fit on 'Lovesexy'...I can't see it on 'Graffiti Bridge' because in that, he kept alluding to 'Love'. It's like he wanted to say 'God' but somehow just couldn't? Lovesexy he mentions, God and there is no mistake about it. lol. So I would say on 'Lovesexy' or possibly as a B-Side.
He should have at least released it! Mavis sounds amazing! It's Button Therapy, Baby!

Always loved this track, it's as good as anything on Lovesexy. Who else could have come up with a line like God is coming like dog in heat?!

Yeah, he should have released it as a B side, love Scarlet Pussy but it doesn't make sense with Lovesexy (it was supposed to be on Sheila's 4th album)
But God is Alive should have been at least a B side

even though the Line was a Lovesexy album outtake the feel of it didn't feel like the rest of the album,
You can tell the Future was prob made around the same time, it at least has the almost same feel of the Line
