Witness 4 The Prosecution

It doesn't seem this gem get's alot of love on here but deserves it's own thread.

I love this track and hearing my fave version in such great quality on Box O' Chocolates is amazing.

Which version does everyone prefer ?

I just can't believe all the things people say !

I like both. It's an interesting track since you see the development of Prince's sound in that small timeframe - the first version is full on late Revolution era, the second is that stripped down synthfunk sound and looks towards Rave/Batman sound even.

Out of he three I'd go with the raw first version.

I like the Wendy and Lisa version too but i do think it loses a bit of the power of the original.

The 1986 Synth version is also pretty damn good, it's darker and I think it would ave been a ggod fit on The Black album or maybe as noveaudance said the Rave 1989 album.

agree with all of this. except I think the darker/later version would have made a great Camille b-side, in addition to replacing When 2 R In Love on the Black album.

The guitar on this one is my favorite Prince guitar tone - similar to his work on "Cindy C". Definitely would've fit perfectly on The Black Album.

It's one of my favorites. I love the guitar tones and feel of this song.

I'll give it a go. I have to admit, I'm struggling to see how Big Tall Wall would fit, but that's probably because i'm not much of a fan & the sound quality of that track isn't great.

Yeah I wasn't a big fan initially either, but IT has the same kind of stripped down feel/beat so I tried it out

But it rides out well and the nice guitar work 4:30 into the song get's pretty wicked and the guitar work feels like IT too and some of the previous songs

start it out with Power Fantastic (intro) + Power Fantastic + In a Large Room

I love this song - it's got some fantastic guitar work on it.

And I'm a sucker for any guitar soloing.
