New topic PrintableDr FB has helped me to get my purple fix over the years...so the least I (and we) can do is help him when he needs help...I'm sure all of us waste money on less worthwhile things.

That pretty much says it all. I could have sworn somebody told me he was a paramedic...did he quit his job or have I got it wrong?
Just today a coworker forgot his diabetes meds at home and became ill...this isn't something you ignore for any reason! He could lose a limb, his eyesight or his life for cryin out loud!
I cannot fathom this situation but nevertheless I feel for him. I don't have anything to give but I'll keep him in my prayers. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Amen! AND I totally agree! I'll do what I Can! But he really needs to consider his health first! Business will fall into practice! It's Button Therapy, Baby!

I'm saying..Some of us really should THINK before we type. AND I say that in a heart of love; if something isn't going the best for someone, why talk about the causes as if they overthrow the effect? We all should give, if you can. AND if not, why tell others they can't? He is a valuable source of information and I appreciate him. I just hope he considers his health as the most important. Because at the end of the day, your being needs rest and grace! It's Button Therapy, Baby!

I"m not clear on something: is the requested donation monies for medical expenses or website expenses? Or both?

It's a scary thought. I can't imagine being sick and having no healthcare. And it's even more hard to believe there are people in the US who are against a healthcare system for everybody.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
What an American problem. I am so glad that over here in Yurp basic healthcare insurance is mandatory.
So being uninsured when you have diabeties is, well not so smart.
And i don't support problems of people who made their own mess, the gouverment should have a safeguard system for these kind of situations.
Yes i'm a socialist.

That's the killer - he openly says it's for a webesite rebuild.
If he'd have asked for donations for medical expenses and was keeping the site as-is then he'd have got a lot more donations (including mine)
However this comes across like giving cash to a drug addict - without help it'll just make things work.

He did a spreecast tonight and also posted on Twitter that health comes first. The reason he brought up the site first is that is how he is known. He felt bad for asking for any help with his health or site.
Check the spreecast about Prince and about 5 minutes before it ends, they talk about the donations and his health; http://www.spreecast.com/...st_created

Soliciting orgers for money is simply weird and borderline disturbed.
No hard feelings. | |

From the post:
He wants your money, so he can make blog posts about when Avril Lavigne's wedding is and which restuarant Nikka Costa ate a salad at last night.

I enjoyed that show, and glad DrF clarified that his health comes first. His current site has always been helpful with Prince news re: concerts, aftershow specifics, and providing other related info and hope he continues to provide that service to fans.

As j7, he brought food in the middle of the night for those sleeping overnight at Leno.
During the 3121 Vegas run, he gave out Prince shirts sold in the 3121 store for those hardcore fans waiting all day in line to get in. I'm not sure if he bought the shirts with his own money then, but he went in and came out with about 30 shirts. Maybe he had a good night at Blackjack.
In fact, there was one fan who did not have enough money to get into the aftershow and travelled from very far to get there. He was sitting on the floor outside the restaurant. He went over to Prince's people, told them about the guy and they brought him in. That was very cool.
He always seems shy in person and for someone who is calling himself drfunkenberry, he shouldn't be. I finally introduced myself to him at the Forum shows and said thank you for all he does. He thanked me and asked me my name and my wife's. He talked with us for about 20 minutes. The following week, he saw us and came to us remembering our names and even asked how my kid did on a test. I was surprised he remembered and thought he would be "too big" to remember stuff like that.
He gets riduculed so much on here, I was almost starting to believe the guy was a major douchebag. Glad I was wrong. J handed out tshirts to us while we were standing in line at 777. He's been nothing but nice to me and I'd love to know what he's done to anyone here.

I feel sorry for the guy, but "very worthwhile" might be better applied to childhood cancer, AIDs, leukemia & any other causes beyond the control of the individual. A diabetic without health insurance on the other hand...
How many of you zealots would donate if there was a t-shirt involved? When will you learn that anything associated with Prince is bound to end a disappointment?

guess Prince could have worked with Rolling Stone, Spin or NME etc to get the news out but for sometime Funkberry has the exclusives. so he chose someone independent just starting out. Kind of COOL if you ask me.
Another thing you all do not get. Fberry is offering some journalism, exclusives. For whatever reason Prince decided to leak some of the news through him and that is that. It's one thing to ask for money and not offer something but he is offering the P fan community something. I doubt the Rolling Stones of the world would report on as much news about the associated artists? KWIM?? It's not unheard of that an independent website/journalist ask for donations to improve website. So step off. What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

[Edited 8/25/12 2:44am] And you do know there are some people who do get diabetes beyond their control, right? What I'm saying is that if he's got health issues, he needs to go get a real job so that he can either pay for his health expenses out of pocket or get health care benefits instead of pan-handling on the internet so that people will support his hobby as a celebrity gossip blogger.

Just to correct you: Rolling Stone etc. wouldn't even want to print EVERYTHING that Prince wants them to Print. They may be commercial, but they do have reputation and standards. The rehearsal jams were very cool, but of course this is also something that Shelby or the others could have posted on their Twitter without the Funkberry involvement.
He broke some stories in the past. Prince I will always miss and love U.

Well I hae a real job and health care benefits and still have thousands of dollars of medical bills that represent the 20% that my insurance doesn't cover. If I asked you guys for help paying those bills would I be considered a pan handler as well? Or is this just something personal because it's someone some of you don't like? I don't get it: don't like the guy or don't want to help, then don't help. Ripping him to shreds on the net just makes no sense to me.

If he wanted to be Prince's mouthpiece for free, then that was on him. Why should people feel obligated for that???

Prince will find some other gullible fucker to put his shit out there then. Or maybe, in the Bizarro world probably, he'll actually PAY a PR firm to do it.
No one's gonna be whining and bitching if this dude's useless site is gone. Stop trying to justify you making this a sticky/wanna-be important.
