Prince reference in Owl City Good Time Song

Seems Prince is being referenced in other artists songs more so in recent times. Have they witnessed his concerts and subsequently felt compelled to share the enthusiasm? Entered in to music because of Prince in the first place, or is it simply "cool" to reference Prince amongst a generation who may not have any real appreciation for the living legends catalogue or true contribution to music? Whatever the reason this line features within a track receiving airplay at the moment.

Owl City - Good Time.

"Woke up on the right side of the bed,

What's up with this Prince song inside my head?"

listening to all my music today on shuffle and heard

'It was a dirty September. The moon was blue. I was thinking of Prince when I collided with you. Got caught in a fever. Felt your temperature rise. You don't need a doctor, just need the kiss of life.'

Debbie Harry - 1989 'Kiss It Better'
