The Glamorous Life demo

Just wondering if The Glamorous Life demo with prince lead vocals has ever been leaked as a bootleg? I'm not asking where to download it or anything like that, just wether or not it is out there smile

I got two sides... and they're both friends.

While one most likely exists it has not leaked. Also since it was originally slated for Apollonia 6 there may also be a version with their vocals on it but we'll probably never hear them(if they exist).

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

eye was just thinking of that this week, after hearing it on the radio 4 the millionth time..Was wondering what it would have been like if Prince put it out back then as a single. U can clearly hear his demo vocal on it. Sheila clearly just sung along with his vocals. This song still gets a lot of airplay 2day. Just as much as his self released songs. "Love Bizarre" was just really a Prince single. Sheila just could have been listed as background singer. eye always felt he must have really loved her to give away to her, two "MasterPieces" like that...But I guess it was still going in his bank account anyway.. giggle

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

I always thought it would be really cool if he put out a Crystal Ball-like project of his own original versions of some of those really old protege songs.

the stuffy by Sheila, the Time, Vanity/Apollonia, right up to about the Jill Jones album. or even some Mavis, Martika and Mayte era stuff.

no re-working. no new versions. just the raw ones he gave to them. or their version with his original guide/demo vocal replacing theirs.

It always struck as odd that Sheila doesn't have more bootlegs floating around. The only one I've heard is 'Girl Power' you'd think there'd be more circulating. Heck Carmen Electra has more ciriculating!

You have to consider that Carmen's album was a massive undertaking for Prince that he put a lot of effort into to try to break Carmen as the next big thing. Even if it doesn't sound like any effort was put into it at all. So there was a bunch of material created, alternate mixes, tons of remixes, etc. It was overthought. To death.

Whereas Sheila's were very specific, focused projects that he was working on. And that her version was probably just his final take with her lead vocal on top. Also a different era, where things were much more efficiently recorded/produced (prior to Paisley Park being built) and Prince had a different, rawer, less-is-more approach to his productions and didn't over-do or over-think everything.

There probably aren't very many Sheila outtakes at all aside from whatever they were working on for that supposed 4th album, because he probably came up with songs specifically tailored to her and her album concept and that's it.

I just figured for the amount of time that she was on Paisley Park that someone would've snagged a version of Prince doing a track intended for her or a rough cut by her. You'd figure after Erotic City and Glamourous Life that the interest in them would've been high. Pretty much every artist signed to Paisley has circulating boots with either Prince's vocals or versions of their own(except Good Question and Dale Bozzio).

Sheila's voice though really made them even cooler.

Unlike "Place in Heaven". On that tune I like Prince's voice much better.

I can hardly figure how Good Question could have a song with Prince vocals circulating if u consider that Prince never wrote a song for them lol lol

Also tracks from Jill Jones, Mazarati, The Time, Carmen Electra, Mayte, Ingrid Chavez, The Family, Sheila E., Apollonia 6, Vanity 6, Brown Mark, Margie Cox, Rosie Gaines all of these have their vocals on them. Taja Sevelle, Mavis Staples and some of the previously mentioned have versions with Prince vocals on them.

I'd forgotten about Suzy Lovelace. And there's Ingrid Chavez' Skyfish project (but it wasn't Paisley Park-related). There are also 2 instrumental outtakes by André Cymone but they're unrelated as well. All the others you mention involve Prince, I was talking about unreleased tracks from Paisley Park artists/projects that didn't involve Prince, which is obviously what u originally meant as well by "versions of their own" ^^
