Mr Goodnight Why so much hate ?

Mr Goodnight -if that song was released by the Isley Brothers it would have been praised.yet, here on org many fans hate it.The song itself have a great bass line ,his speaking-rappin is not fored,it sounds relexad and cool.I like the break down when he says We can shackala... And girl voices are cool.

I like it. It's kind of different for Prince, maybe a bit commercial, but also speaks honestly from where he's at, not pretending to be a gangsta or teenager.

Because it's shit hop which is a disgrace for any artist with his talent to sellout to. As for the Isley Brothers, Ronald Isley has been a complete sellout and disgrace since the 1990s so there's no double standard here. Shit hop is the enemy. It's the reason why there's been no good R&B mainstream music in the last 20 years so of course I can't stand when I see good artists bow down, kiss it's ass, and sell out to it.

Andy is a four letter word.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I may be in the minority but I love that song. I love the bass line and his sexy voice and Bria does good with the speaking/singing too.

It's not one of Prince's best and not one of his worst. But I prefer songs like The One U Wanna C and Guitar.

I really liked the song..... the hate for me comes from it being so dated. It's hard for me to listen to anew at this point -- but I'm willing to revisit - maybe I played it too often since it was one of the only trax on that album that made me not embarrased.

Like someone said here; "I Lurrrrrrrrrrrrrveeeeeeeeeeee This Song" Hahahahahaha

What I love about this song is how 'Future Goodnight' falls into 'Mr.Goodnight' it sounds so crisp! smile

His rap is very good; it does not sound forced at all; he has control over his voice and you can hear the flow perfectly! wink

SO regardless of what anyone else Says...I LOVE IT! lol

I think he should make a video of this with Ronnie the Limo driver from the Howard Stern show as Mr.Goodnight..like courting all these strippers to all these high class restaurants.

The song is fun.

Because its dumb, its seductive yes, but in a silly rappy/bad r and b type way. At least if its Prince, sing some falsetto, add a few horns and some piano tinkling. This track sounds like filler from an Usher or Chris Brown album rather than Prince.

Its also trend chasing which is sad, totally unconvincing, sounds cheep ass as well. Plus hes using ghetto slang words like Holla and throw yo head back, he sounds so much better when he speaks proper English. Here he sounds like Lil Wayne with this language. This song has an IQ of about 70, most of his music is 100 +.

People who hate it probably hate hiphop/rnb as a genre anyway.

I've listened to hip hop for years and I love this tune, I dont think its shit in any way. The whole album is fukin excellent and I cant understand when he knocks out stuff like Planet Earth (especially with its old skool Prince flavor) that bellends come on here and still insist he aint done fuck all since the Gold Experience.

I like it but I dont love it.When I do get the urge to listen to Planet Earth, I never skip it. I think its a fun and lighthearted song thats not as bad as some people think it is. When I first heard it I remember thinking it sounds like a TLC "CrazySexyCool" outtake, and it still reminds me of Notorious B.I.G.'s 1995 summer anthem "One More Chance".

It gets so much hate because it's a piece of shit! Plain and simple.

And no, if the Isleys did this shit, it'd be just as shitty, like Andy said.

The song is just too easy for Prince. There's nothing challenging about it, nothing creative. SKIP.
