Maybe it will be here tomorrow. I'm in the UK. Shouldn't be long in getting to you, I'm sure they're all mailed out same time, just a day or two's extra wait for those outside Europe.

The last two copies were issued as a pair also so I should think you saw 53 and 54.

You forgot to credit me feeding you the titles from the songbook at the aftershow at least five seconds before Prince launched into them - vital details. OK, so I got it wrong with Wedding Feast. They're here today! Like a present. Nothing like lying on the couch with 2 brand new Uptowns and just blocking out the real world! Time to renew my subscription too, ugh! Time to cough up the $50!

Why aren't there any Japanese tour reports in issue #56 (as billed on the cover)?

I don't understand why they go so long in between issues and then mail out two? How about getting on a schedule and publishing a magazine that subscribers receive in a somewhat regular manner? Subscribers pay $50 ( FIFTY DOLLARS) for this magazine. That is a helluva lot for a magazine subscription. At least make some kind of effort to publish relevant and timely articles. What's the deal with rehashes of the Lovesexy tour? What's next? An analysis of the Purple Rain movie trailer?

Maybe because Japanese fans did not submit reports to UPTOWN for inclusion in the magazine? You got detailed setlists from Japan which is good enough...maybe next issue if fans submit stuff they will publish them. "Waiting to be banned"

How is it rehash when they have never compiled a Lovesexy tour report before?...have you any idea how much work is require to compile something like this? Look at the setlist matrix...all those shows had to be listened to and setlists taken down with comments on each show. That takes work and dedication. I personally am grateful to UPTOWN for publishing this so i can see what was played on each and every show. "Waiting to be banned"

Well that wouldn't make sense as there were plenty of Japanese reports on the internet and I'm sure at least one per concert would have agreed to it. Somebody had to of given them a setlist as you say.

I might consider subscribing soon.
'Uptown' is mad expensive in 'Tower Records' now. The last issue cost me over £6!!!

I personally am grateful to UPTOWN for publishing this so i can see what was played on each and every show. I have every issue of Uptown, starting with No. 1. I don't have time to go through each and every one of them to see if what you say is true. However, I stand by my statement that the Uptown staff needs to get on the ball and start giving subscribers a better product for $50. It's ridiculous to pay $50 for a very thin magazine that arrives every 3-4 months. How about giving the paying customers a product that is of use and interest to us? Let's see a feature article on Renaldo Neto. How about interviewing John Blackwell? How about doing a feature on a particular album and show every 12" single from the album. In addition, using nearly 20 (TWENTY) pages on Lovesexy coverage -- a tour that took place in 1988? The bad part about that is that the 20 pages only covers the European tour. Uptown is threatening to continue on with the Japanese and American leg of the tour -- there's another 20 or so pages that only bootleggers will read.

Those two are probably under contract not to talk to anyone without Prince's consent, especially Uptown The guy is such a fucking control freak, for the wrong reasons. Regarding the price of subscription, it is expensive, and the issues are irregular, but I gladly keep up my subscription (which I've had since 1994). Fanzines are a bit of an out-dated concept it would seem in today's internet-culture - the costs of a website would be drastically smaller than those of a published magazine. But there is no other fan-base or organisation who puts in the level of dedication and interest in the subject of Prince's music. Prince: A Documentary Days Of Wild DMSR Turn It Up And of course Uptown itself, all these are highly detailed factual accounts, made through extensive research and interviewing - There is no other person(s) doing this in the Prince community, which makes them the only reliable source of factual and historical published information on Prince's music. Prince's official outlets are painfully obscure and untrustworthy (in terms of financial outlay and information). I will keep supporting Uptown as long as they are in publication, which I hope is for a very, very long time yet. --------------------

Well that wouldn't make sense as there were plenty of Japanese reports on the internet and I'm sure at least one per concert would have agreed to it. Somebody had to of given them a setlist as you say. It makes perfect sense when you consider UPTWON have lives and jobs and do not spend 24/7 snooping around the net looking for reviews. If people email them in good and well...otherwise UPTOWN is limited by what people submit to them...directly. And yes they were sent setlists...but setlists are not reviews. However, I stand by my statement that the Uptown staff needs to get on the ball and start giving subscribers a better product for $50. It's ridiculous to pay $50 for a very thin magazine that arrives every 3-4 months. Thin?...it's the same pages as it has always been, 3-4 months...again you've got no idea what is involved trying to put a magazine together. These guys are fans and not in this game to cash in or, as you say, put out a product. It's a work of love and dedication and people should show a little more respect. How about giving the paying customers a product that is of use and interest to us? Let's see a feature article on Renaldo Neto. How about interviewing John Blackwell? How about doing a feature on a particular album and show every 12" single from the album. If the current issue is not of use to fans then i'm sorry...you're way off base. It has tons of information and articles of interest to many fans. UPTOWN have covered ALL his albums and reviwed them...you sure you subscribe?...you reading the same magazine?, maybe you're subscribed to NPG magazine or something. In addition, using nearly 20 (TWENTY) pages on Lovesexy coverage -- a tour that took place in 1988? The bad part about that is that the 20 pages only covers the European tour. Uptown is threatening to continue on with the Japanese and American leg of the tour -- there's another 20 or so pages that only bootleggers will read.[/quote] Again read and understand that they have covered every other tour, which is why Lovesexy is featured. It needed 20 pages to cover some 35 concerts played in Europe. And the next issue will cover the American and Japanese legs. Another 20 pages for you to enjoy... "Waiting to be banned"
