Songs you like but you really shouldn't and have no idea why you do

What Prince songs do you like but you know damn well you shouldn't. Here are some of mine:

When You Love Somebody
Sticky Like Glue
Strolling'
The Sun, the Moon and the Stars
Undisputed
Silly Game
Push It Up

Great question, but don't be such a silly sausage.

EVERYONE should LOVE Strollin'; it's quite possibly one of Prince's most criminally underated songs. Even on your darkest day, it can't help but make you smile.

"Strollin', strollin', we can have fun just strollin'..."

See? Are you smiling yet?

Case closed.

love,

Spirit

If you do, then you do. confuse

Stop the press!!! PUSH IT UP!? You better take your ass to church and pray on that.

High - This might be the corniest song ever recorded and maybe the shittiest concept Prince has ever devised, but I like it. "The horn goes beep...and the music in the Jeep goes.." Ha...love that part.

We March - Everyone hates it. I get it. I think I like it because my first experience hearing it was live at Paisley, and it was one of my first times there. It was the first song, and the conveyor belt brought him forward while he was holding his one-eyed bass upward with the furry guitar strap on and that signature pout. He looked like a total badass which made it easy ignore lines like, "The river that I drink from, will it be the same as your mammy?" WTF?!

Girl 6 - It's smooth, kind of jazzy, and I love the second time Prince sings "Looong as uuuu r neeear," when he gets real throaty with it. It may not be the most creative thing in the world when Prince does a standard R & B song, but I love how he does them.

Love Sign - Another standard R & B song, with a corny ass concept and even cornier video. Can you imagine if a gang banger actually threw up the "Love Sign" in the hood? They would shoot off his hand. I still love it and love Prince's vocal adlibs at the end. I got to see the just-finished video played in the Erotic City room at Glam Slam when I was 18 and thought it was cool as hell at the time. I guess I was blinded by hero worship.

Everybody Loves Me - I give full permission for anyone to punch me in the mouth for liking this. I heard it was originally written for Barney who rejected it to protect his artistic integrity.

The Rest Of My Life - It sounds like he rattled this one off in 10 minutes but who cares? It's fun.

Don't Talk 2 Strangers - These lyrics are a damn shame. I think the song is elevated by his vocals, though.

My Name Is Prince - This one is so bad it's actually kind of funny. For some reason I still get goosebumps when he says, "If u wanna play with me, u better learn the rules! Ow, my name is PRINCE!," and then immediately start cringing again. Funky fresh for the 90s? Pshh...

Hot Summer - The keyboards remind me of Cream, which makes me think that's why I like it, but then I remember that I don't really like Cream at all. So IDK why I like it. Listening to it right now and IDK how Prince is able to deliver some of these lyrics with a straight face lol .

"Tick Tick Bang".

I know it was supposed to be the song in "Grafitti Bridge" that turned everyone off in the "battle", but I liked it better than the movie's title track, which "won".

Walk Don't Walk ... apparently. I find it quite pleasant and not trying too hard, which is a bit of a change for prince around then.

Song of the Heart - Attempting to musically re-do Starfish and Coffee, I think he nailed it but probably alone at this.

Get on the Boat - I dunno, I don't love it but I don't skip it (or quit before it maybe). It's something he's done on more than one occasion but I don't see why this one gets singled out so much. I think it's solid enough.

I agree, My Name is Prince is full of charm. The fact that Prince is trying so hard to be tough, and he still fills the song with 'Ow!'s and Michael Jackson-esque mouth noises every damn bar... it's just bizarre.

ugh, the samples of his own songs, the cheesy piano chords, the horribly dated 90s sounds, tony m, prince's 'hard' voice... and the fact that it feels like prince had tons of preconceived ideas of what a 'tough' song sounds like, making it pretty unnatural, cliche and clumsy...

it's an absolute triumph that the song is still listenable. I always put it on the playlist when I listen to Symbol.

i think Feel Better, Feel Good, Feel Wonderful is ok. I get the sense that some people here think that it's just a crappy version of something else (in which case, lemme know what that something else is plz), or maybe because it's part of a genre of music they've decided they don't like...

There are so many things working against this song. So many dated (even at the time) and cliched elements. But it always has that bassline. That thundering, rolling, thumping, pounding,

beautiful bassline that swallows up every other element and takes it along for the ride. I've always loved this silly song.

"That's when eye've got u, that's when ur mine!" I admit it, he got me. I am his.
