I think Prince would go over very well in Israel. It just may be in his future.
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

Does he have enough of a fanbase in Israel to financial justify doing concerts there?

Anyway, concert in Israel might indicate "support" and that's a controversial thing; and while he was into "Controversy" 30 yrs ago, I don't think he or most other artists want to put themselves into this kind of controversy.

Btw, Reply #2 on the "stauros." I know it's a JW translation thing, but really why does it matter? Is there a substantive reason for a Christian to care wheter it's a "stauros" or cruxifix/cross? Isn't the main thing that he "died for our sins"?

I saw an old performance of his with Larry with the big word "stauros" in the background, and I just don't get it. Oh well.

He went to Abu Dhabi...I think if the price was right he'd show up. He's never been to NZ either and I think that's to do with dollar bills as well.

He's never to been to Russia either, right? I'd be interested to see if he could sell out an arena in Moscow.

Yes, he should go & tour with The Rainbow Children as the focus of his shows, complete with the anti-semitic nonsense.

I think he has been there for some private party invite to perform. But why hasn't he ever performed in Israel? Such a good question. And they are not horrible people.

Oy no already!!!

Same as New Zealand, lots of fans waiting for him, but no joy from the purple one. But surely you could see him rocking Jerusalem and Tel Aviv at least.

A friend of mine once spoke to Dr. Fink(who is from a Jewish decent) and he always wanted to do a show there, but Prince didn't want to go there, maybe because back then there were politically unstable, but things have changed there now and a lot of artists go there and sell out-Chris Cornell added a second show there because it sold out so fast and they even get small alternative bands go over there ,like the Afghan Whigs and The Mars Volta. Jennifer Lopez is going to be there in a few months and The Chili Peppers have a big show there in September and they just announced that they are going to have Lollapalooza over there in 2013. There is a market over there for Prince and he is well loved in Israel. He can also charge those high prices over there(I paid a bit over $300 for the Madonna concert over there in May) for a golden circle tickets and people will pay. The society over there is very similar to over here in the US,with the discrepancy between the rich and poor is very appearent and they are just as lazy and entitled as we are.

I think he will be able to sell 30 thousand tickets over there to fill up the stadium in Ramat-Gan,where Madonna opened her world tour.I think it's only a matter of a promoter over there to initiating the process.

I don't think it has anything to do with Jesus and all that nonsense, because that never happened-it's just a story that for some reason people still swallow nowadays. It's a very modern society- It's a US puppet ,and as far as assholizm-the people over there give us Americans a run for our money, but as a tourist they will treat you nicely.

Right on. He won't go to Thailand either because those ladyboys would remind him of what he used to look like.

I agree with most of what you said, except for "Jesus and all that nonsense, because that never happened-it's just a story that for some reason people still swallow nowadays," but that's a belief issue that can be debated elsewhere. But, just because we differ on the existence of Jesus doesn’t mean that I can’t see the validity of your other points.

*

During the seventies and eighties, the Middle East, rightly or wrongly, was stereotyped as unstable and not safe even though millions of people continued to travel and even vacation there. Over the past thirty years or so the more enlightened and greedy (American merchants) have realized how similar many sections of the Middle East, especially Israel, are to the US and other Western markets, and because of this realization many profiteers, including the entertainment industry, have begun exploiting Israel for gain just like everywhere else. So, I'm sure that if the price was right, like a cool million per show, Prince would be there in a heartbeat, and I wouldn't be mad at him.

*

As for the question artist76 had about “staurous,” I agree that the important aspect of the story is that Jesus died for humanity’s sins, but the point of “Staurous” for JWs, of which I am not, is that one mistelling or lie can lead to another lie. So, a lie about how Jesus died can lead to other lies, which can, eventually corrupt the narrative or truth. And, one of the major points or issues for JWs is that the truth of Christianity has been corrupted by people/organizations bending or changing the truth to fit their purposes. Again, one can see it as merely “splitting hairs,” but that is their point. I’m not telling you this so you will agree with them, but just so you know their point or position. However, there are a lot of things that I understand and still don’t agree with them.
