The Xenophobia Celebration - A Question

Is there a soundboard quality of those shows?

Xenophobia Vol I & II on the Sabotage label are good. The bastard about that set is you have to patch together shows are they are split up over the discs, in order to listen to them in some sort of continuity. Quality is really good though.

Thunderball were also to release a Xenophobia set before they ceased trading, the set has been released as a Thunderball/fan release type of affair. Quaility is almost the same as the Sabotage set, differences are very minimal.

The Premium label also had a Xenophobia set but I can't comment as I have not heard those recordings.

From what I gather the Sabotage set is the most complete, and quality is great.

And as always, you come through smile checked the digital garden site before I made this thread, but it seems that there are many boots that recorded those events, and it was confusing.

The reason why I wanted to check them out is because of "Paisley Park" disbelief A guitar + a drum kit = a MENTAL performance. I could take or leave the song, but after hearing this version live, I reconsidered music

The music played over the 7 nights really is amazing. Some very rare songs played. Two fairly standard ONA gigs were played during the celebration, and while it's nice to have them, it's the other nights that the magic happened. wink Prince's acoustic set on night 4 is worth it for obtaining this set alone. Great release. wink

There is also a T's Xenophobia CD out there. One show only, with improved sound quality

Is that the acoustic set?

There are a couple of Xenophobia shows under the title of "Xenophobia Remastered" too. Fan releases. I have no idea what they sound like.

Prince walked right through the crowd before he went on stage before this show. This one and the acoustic show were the highlights but my personal favorite was the "rock" oriented night right after Bernard Allison´s show....raw energy, great choice of songs, simply a superb Prince concert.

And Prince was in a great mood throughout the week, even though some assholes tried to steal stuff.

Good times!

"Kirk, is the water warm enough?" (Prince right before he began with his acoustic set). wink

The interactions that took place during those times are legendary,,,,at least from the stories I read here over the years. That "ONA soundboard fan" thread is an example. I also remember reading alot about it during the board's "black & blue" days, I was still somewhat of a newbie at the time, and even though I didn't have much knowledge about those events, reading the comments from those who went there made a hell of an impression.

Wait a cotton picking minute,,,,,,folks were trying to steal under his nose? falloff

Another thing,,,,

I just PRAY that Kevin Smith documentary sees the light of day while I'm still in good health,

its the only thing documented about that era, and the boots that came with it.

I could just imagine what went around those sessions(I'm more interested in hearing the fans commentary about this though).

one of my favorite memories was my friends and I standing out in the parking lot area right outside the door during one of the day time events playing hopscotch with some chalk we had used on the driveway. there's a glass doorway with a longish hallway in that same receiving area, adjacent to where they were letting people into PP.

anyway, all of a sudden, we look up, and there's Prince standing there behind that door watching us play hopscotch and smoke cigarettes, with Mani next to him, playing his guitar. couldn't hear him of course, but when we looked up, he smiled and they both turned around and walk off.... kind of neat.

T's remastered I have is a 2-disk set - both acoustic and rock.

Btw, the Premium version is highly inferior in sound q. It was the first one out and is good but muddy sounding compared to Sab's release.
