is there any1 else on this board TOTALLY feeling the last track of the new prince instrumental album?
correct me if i'm wrong but it has some of his finest recorded axe-work ever, blackwell annihalates his kit and the arrangement and changes r really exciting! All of the playing is top drawer (including a sweet little bass segue from rhonda).
this joint reminds me of the mahavishnu orchestra (mayb blackweel turned P on 2 this stuff, i know he really rates billy cobham) and is exactly the sort of route prince needs 2 go down if he is going 2 take his jazz seriously. Ponderous old-school stuff with 'nice' soft horn lines s all very well but this number shows exactly how exciting the medium could be for prince (and his fans who r in2 music and musicianship, not just 80's nostalgia trips).

I can't believe that crap came from the same mind which created so many brilliant songs in the past. I mean, it's truly the end for Prince when he starts making junky jazz tracks.He still has a bunch of good years ahead, why is he adding 20 years to his age with this shit? Godamn it was painful to listen to.

But there's no denying of the musicianship on the track "Xpedition". Actually, I'm listening to this right now and it's a nice thing to have.

Well I'll tell ya, if Prince swung over to the dark side a bit, I bet his music would be wicked. And I mean wicked in a good way.

Xogenous has the best guitar work on the album
