Looooove this song! First heard it when I saw the VH1 Fashion awards and liked the performance. Forgot all about it till I heard the track at a purpleelectricity jam and was really feeling it, found that it on Gold and played it, and then found the vh1 performance realizing what it is, and appreciating it more than ever.

So there's my sorry

Does anyone else think of the intro to Janet's Control....this is a story about pussy control

I don't know if thats a genuine statement or sarcasm, but it made me laugh evillol

Love the song. Never been a fan of his rapping, but he pulled it off in this one. Plus, its an example of how much of a gifted storyteller he is. Not to mention, his sense of humor.

I love Pussy control, both on Gold and Crystal Ball. Especially the Crystal Ball version though they are very similar.

Greast way to start a new album:

"Good mornin' ladies and gentlemen,
Boys and motherfuckin' girls,
This is ur captain with no name speakin'
And I'm here 2 rock your world"

I heart The Gold Experience,

and Pussy Control is fantastic.... as well. biggrin

There was a maxi single planned for this track, I think it had 4 or 5 versions.

Love the song. I was at the Glam Slam show in Minneapolis on July 25, 1994 when it was premiered. The DJ played it on cd, it wasn't live. Hard to believe it was 18 years ago! eek

I was at the Glam Slam show the day after this was recorded, where he played the song during a brief intermission. I had no idea that day that he'd just recorded it the day before. Cool info. I was 18, front row center, got his guitar pic, and stole his setlist that was taped on the floor near his mic stand. One of the highlights of my life. smile

It was also great seeing him do this live the following summer at Paisleya number of times. I loved his interaction with Mayte on this song.

I used to hear this at the club a lot at the time as well, and it seemed like a lot of people knew it. I always wondered if it was just a local thing or if it was an actual club hit.

Yes. I listen to that one more. The wit is somehow more apparent; the rapping moves with the meaning of the words better, if that makes sense. More expressive maybe.

Did you steal the setlist before or after the show? lol

I waited til it was over and the lights came on. I had to draw the line at his bottle of fret spray though. lol

Bloody love the Crystal ball version- that bass line & pumping beat sure turns me on! Oooww! wink Good advice he was preaching but I'd hear it anyway every time I was going out clubbing from my parents. Only they'd say " Mind keep yer hand on yer Ha'penny!" Ha ha So I always obeyed my folks & Prince! lol

Especially the dialogue with the fool named trick. What a song. I had it on replay in my car for about a month this summer.

I think of Prince as similar to opera in many ways. The over-the-top rawness that hits a nerve. I wonder how many orgers are also opera fans. Me, yes.
