Has Prince Influenced Ur Wardrobe?

Has Prince's own fashion trends or trademarks ever crept in to you own wardrobe? For example: I went through a period many years ago when I wore suits for most nights out on the town which was influenced by the general look of the D&P era.

For the record...my suits didn't feature buttoned legs or half length jackets.

I have three older sisters, so hand-me-downs used to suck for me. In particular, I recall one of my sisters having some tight fitting black jeans that bunched up at the bottom and had buckles on both sides that ran all the way down the leg. Somehow, I wound up wearing those things when I was in the 7th grade or so. I'm positive I wouldn't have dared put them on if not for Prince. I just can't believe I didn't get beat up in school, but it was the 80's! smile

Only my jewelry. I have a nice 14k yellow gold o(+> charm and I'm having a white platinum/diamond one made right now.

Lord, my God please: no!!!

I like Prince's music a lot, but I would never wear stuff like that. It fits him though, some of the times...

Yes definately. I love purple of course and always look for that "Prince influenced style", not necessarily in the way HE dresses but more in the way the "Prince women" have dressed, if that makes any sense.

Definitely. In 1984. Had my black lace gloves with the fingers cut off. And my big hoop earring. Les not forget the rude boy pin.
If his purple trench was in stores at that time, I woulda rocked it 4 sho.
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

I fell in love with sleeves that are a bit too long because of a pic on the booklet of Rave, back in late 1999, and ever since I always choose my long-sleeves t-shirts and jumpers so the sleeves cover the upper parts of my hands so yeah I guess Prince has influenced my wardrobe.

I actually wish I could have had some of his clothes that I really find beautiful, and now that I live in Asia where tailors and fabrix cost 10 times less what they cost in Europe, I may end-up having a few Prince-like clothes made, but it's hard to decide what I could wear that he wears beautifully without me looking ridiculous in it lol

The way the women surrounding Prince dresses. His wives, girlfriends, and the ones in his film clips. They dress confident, sexy yet elegant and he always dresses them with style. I get the sense that he doesn't like women in bogan/skanky clothes. And they're always in heels. This influences the way I dress too.
pray Peace in the House of Prince.

AWESOME!! AND ME TOO! Hahaha

I do love the sleeves being longer, I never really like them short anyways though...lol. AND He has really inspired my cuff link fascination too. I like really big square cufflinks and special designed ones...

And I did not know they cost less there? I am going to have to go there and have some of my clothes made over there....lol. AND I feel you, in that somethings are hard to wear he does..Make it your own style. If you really want to cop something he would wear that you can, just remember the sleeves are always longer, and he always wears cufflinks it seems? lol

Yes. You certainly won't find me in khakis and tennis shoes. barf

Purple Rain came out when I was 9 and so I've grown up with "Prince-ish fashion" - I loved the clothes Appollonia wore and Diamond and Pearls was also my favorite era- In fact I wore a black body suit today to the grocery store - my boyfriend was like, "What the what are you wearing?" but in my head it's playing Prince all the time so......

Many things are cheaper in developping countries, but if u have to pay a plane ticket from the US (i assume that's where u live, correct me if I'm wrong) to Cambodia only for making clothes then better make them at home wink

Now maybe u should offer urself a trip to Mexico. I don't know the cost of life there but it's most likely way cheaper than in the US, and therefore tailors may be very affordable.

Why don't you get a load of clothes made cheaply in Cambodia? Then you can sell them for a lot of money on ebay to idiots people who want to look like Prince.

For years I loved wearing tight black pants with studs or other designs coming down the sides, and was inspired by MJ, but I also know Prince wore pants like that in the 80's, so indirectly, yes I have been smile
