Wow. I feel old.

I saw it at the drive in on Long Island (forget which theater), opening weekend.

That changed my life, and made me a life-long Prince fan. (I knew of him since 1979 with 'I Wanna Be Your Lover')... and then 1999 and Little Red Corvette, which I liked, but this solidified it.

I started getting all bootlegs I could find from him. I was amazed. Still am.

I was there the day it opened - and saw it in the theater five more times.

I "liked" Prince then.

I didn't even go see the movie straight away. Thought it was going to be stupid.

I had "1999" & "Purple Rain". Listened to them every day, but was into the music, not the guy.

Then "Purple Rain" made its way to the base movie theater. I went to see it with a couple of girlfriends. We pissed EVERYONE off in the theater because we were singing to all the songs.

I was BLOWN AWAY and was never the same.

When he humped that speaker, it changed my life.

Being a bit younger(sorry) than some, I watched purple rain for the first time last year. It amazed me!!! I had heard his early music and seen under the cherry moon but nothing prepared me for this masterpiece, I loved it!!!! since then I have been smitten!!! So c'mon Prince, pop my cherry, I'm dying to see you in concert in the UK, PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

went to a preview night when I got some tickets through a friend who worked in a radio station - just remember thinking - this is the 1st time I have heard his speaking voice

heard i wanna be your lover when I was a freshman in high school , then a couple of years later a friend got me into dirty mind/controversy/1999 - then this all happened and it has never stopped

Purple Rain is one of my favorite movies. I never get tired of watching it!

sum of the worst acting ive ever seen in a film......however the soundtrack...saves it...but not totally

I lost count of the times I went to see this movie after it opened...in two differebt states!

Sadly, i never got a chance to see Purple Rain at the Theater. I was locked up in Juvenile Hall for the duration of its theater Run. I've seen it at least 10 times on video though.

Funny story.

I almost got into a fight over Purple Rain era Prince. I was in Juvenile Hall(different time)and i had a bunch of Prince pictures taped to the foot of my bunk. Some dude started talking smack about prince, and about my shrine dedicated to him. I decided to call the guy on his shi@ so i told him to apologise or i was f****ng him up ! He did apologise and all was well.
