vocals coming in now. not too bad. didn't remember it actually being nice for however short

it's not as bad as i expected since i had made this into some huge monster in my mind

after filing it away a few years back.

the drums are actually quite nice, as is the guitar. some of the vocal phrasing on the

verses are very nice even. but once that way ott chorus kicks in, it's just like 'noooo'.

still, i've done it. i've listened to it. twice actually.

I just think he likes to tackle various genres, ill-advised or not he doesn't care what anyone else thinks. It would have been great if he had killed it, but it's hard to think of any fight song that actually is cool unto itself. He could have pulled this off much better, but it is what it is

"purple and gold" is among the worst songs ever,

both for Prince and other artists.

I was shocked back then and still is, that he could release such a "crappy mess".

I always liked the bridge at 2:20.

I always think of this song and "Hey You" by Madonna (that charity single she tossed off for Live 8 or whatever) as being similar in vein.

the music works. and I can see what he's (they're) going for here, but it's the kind of thing that would only work if he was actually there at the game performing, and is never going to be worth doing in a studio version.

I gave it a fair shot when it came out -about five listens and I just can't Not my cup o tea

Whenever I hear that I imagine an NFL edit with all of Minnesota's best bits from 2009 season (Favre as the purple Yoda, Peterson running over people, Allen squishing quarterbacks), shame about 2010, and less said about 2011 the better!

Purple and Gold was just the worst piece of shit almost any major artist could have ever released. To say it's embarassing is a huge understatement. Thank goodness people I know don't think of me as his biggest fan anymore.

The fact that Prince made this particular track to honor his home football team shows that he is completely out of touch with the rest of us. But as a Packer fan I will say I'm happy he did this for the Vikes
