Okay I THOUGHT I loved the og Un2 version that was released but the remix Rave version has a better beat to it imo. The og version is really melodic but it seems more plastic production wise after all. The rmeix version from the In2 is more..dirty production imo even if it is the same vocal.

I listened to the remixed In2 album a few times in the car recently and I still do not like the remixed Man O' War as much as the original.

For me it seems to lose the clarity and crispness of the multi-layered vocals, makes it too muddy for me. The first version seems more raw and more pained (Prince as the man done wrong by a woman again). I wanna hear that almost acapella delivery and sparseness to the vocals, beat, and minimal guitar wails.

I do like the remix better than the original, though.

I don't think I have heard the whole remix, but I never thought anything was lacking in this song, or needed changing. A number of the songs on Rave could use some extra umph, though. Most of them, actually. But the ballads are good IMO

Yeah..in the orignal he sounds pained. In the remix its like a modern day rap attitude. Im presyuming its the same vocal and if it is, its weird how the muisc can change the affect of the words expressed.

I like the remix because I rarely hear it and thats what came as a shock to me..how it seems like a different song with less emotion to it.

I remember a lot of folks didn't like the "cheap rnb of today" feel of this upon release.

I don't have a fave. I like both versions.

I like them both.

It's how time passes and some of his albums that some consider subpar have these songs that become classic. "Beautiful Strange" comes to mind. just like "The ? of U" on GB.

BS and ? were instant classics upon drop. Plus, I'm not saying that Man O War is a classic at all.

I wouldn't say Mow is classic but I would say "Beautiful Strange" from the same album is. Or at least classic like come in your panties if he played it at a soundcheck classic. I remember a lot of people beat down these albums and consider them trash upon initial release and later prop them up but I guess that's every P release.

I like both versions, but the original one is my favorite for personal reasons I guess. To me it's more heartfelt and painful. The remix is cool too... it's more funky. What I do love about the remix is how he adds on the lyrics:

I love when he adds on angrier lyrics at the bridge. He does it with the remix of 'I Hate U', 'The Dance' on 3121 and this one.

manowar on in2 is actually one of his better post name change efforts .. better chords .. better melody and better beat .. wish these finer moments didn't seem like such an accident for prince

The Rave Un2 version is way better and I think the vocal is one of his best. Too bad about that production tho.

Rave In2 I just put on now for the first time in years. I like that it's kind of a chilled laid back r & b work out. I don't like that it's kind of trying to cop that stuttery Timbaland sound from 1996. I don't hate it as much as I thought I did. The background vocals are great.

I prefer the MOW remix version. As much i love the Un2 album as a whole, i prefer the In2 remix album.
