Check out the Rainbow children tour. He performed it better that year than the Lovesexy tour. There are some KILLER boots and I believe its also on the ONA live box set

The version he performed on the One Night Night Alone tour is not the same song. It doesn't even come close to the heart and soul...let alone the Spirit...of the Lovesexy Tour version. Once he started singing different lyrics, it change the meaning of the original. I was more offended by this stunt, than when he changed "The Cross" to The Christ.

And yes, I'd kick a billion asses to have a pro shot, American leg version of the Lovesexy Tour! Then... and only then... would there be justice in the world!

Did u never watch the Livesexy 88 TV special? Dortmund 9 September 1988......there's a live version of it on there. He also did a good live version on the ONA...Live album.

I dont know why people hate it either. I LOVE that version!! He tore it up and the way he extended it into the jam afterwards was tha bomb!! That was one of my favs from that tour which is also my favorite tour of alltime by him too. He was really at his peak on that tour. What happened since then is what I don't get. He has not had a good tour since(at least in my opinion)

s would be more interesting than those OK tracks that are being hailed

Anne Stesia is a "holy song" for a lot of fans. And he "raped" the song on the ONA - live album by turning it into a commercial for his npgmusicclub by chanting"join the club - joint the club!" That's just ridiculous and "blasphemic". I really can't listen to it, prince ruins the song with this.

I prefer the Dortmund version, but I think it's wonderful different cuts of this beautiful song (it's holy to me too) speak to each of us differently. I believe in the ONA version, he says we should embrace our similarities so I respect your preference for ONA, but I hear his passion in the Dortmund live version. As long as the message gets thru, whichever version one prefers is the best . . .

I believe you are mistaken. I stopped listening to Anna Stesia for years because the ONA version ruined the song for me.

I heard nagoya 89 version ,dortmund version and one 88 rehearsal version ,while the rehearsal version is nice because of Prince's extended solos,the other two bore me to tears. 2002version is faster,with more punch and urgency in his vocals not to forget his great guitar work from that version,

the livesexy version is my favorite live version. miko's guitar playing is just wonderful to me.

it's ruined because he starts talking about the music club and something about seating and i didn't listen to the original again til just earlier this year.

Its part of the song, and it's simply ridiculous. Stop pretending that it doesn't matter by calling it an "extended coda". IT IS A PART OF THE SONG.

how funny: i have see it like 20 times and I never noticed the guitar did not work...I remember him saying something to Levi and Miko... but not that he was playing the guitar but it was not working.

I still think the best is the one on the album. Man his collection could do with some decent remastering though. I often think that after playing the songs Prince should then be kept as far away as possible from the rest of the job.
