When you hear the first few seconds of this song,with Prince demanding "New Power,New Power,give it to me",you know you are in for a treat.The song then takes off like a rocket.The beat is relentless,the bass seems to have a mind of it's own,and the racy dialogue with Cat (at the end) is simply wicked.
My favorite part of the song is the second verse,which takes a unique "detour".With a simple chord change,Prince starts singing... "All in life becomes easier,no question is unresolved and I'm not afraid now...come on and touch it,I know you will love it,with it I know heaven's a butterfly kiss away... Then,it comes back to the chorus... "this feeling's so good in every single way!" | |

More and more I'm finding how much I love 'Lovesexy' (the album). It's quite possibly my favourite Prince album and I NEVER would've said that a few years back. And this has got to be one of THE strongest title tracks. Love it! By the way, I remember listening to this on my Discman, on a bus, a few years back. The bus stopped at some lights and JUST my luck - when it was quiet - the 'U got me drippin', drippin' all over the place' section was blaring out of my earphones. The woman sitting next to me was like

In my area,this song got alot of airplay on R&B stations (which is another reason why it should have been a single),but I remember the DJ stopping the song at the part where Prince says "U got me drippin,drippin all over the floor".The DJ said "Well,come on man,get a towel and clean it up"...lol...then he asked "doesn't Prince sound like one of those phone sex operators?"

Airplay? Yes!
I agree with you, DavidEye... I'm not sure why this one never received much attention. Perhaps it's because the song is "happy", I can't think of a better way to descibe it. I'm sure you understand. | |

If - or when - Prince's back catalogue is finally given the attention it deserves and gets the full remastering, etc., this is DEFINITELY one album I'll head straight for.
'Lovesexy' is such a dense, comnplex album I bet there's LOADS of little surprises hardly anyone's picked up on. | |
