Be careful. If you're a student, or a job seeker, and you cannot spell a four- or five-letter word correctly, you will be hurting yourself.

It's amazing to see how many people now spell the word "lose" as "loose" and vice versa. As an employer myself, I'm not going to give someone who cannot distinguish between those two words much attention for a job opening.

As a lawyer, I understand the importance of grammar and syntax..... but would you comb through internet fan forums and disqualify a candidate who otherwise used language appropriately simply because s/he misspelled a word in a post? If so.... I'd rescind my resume before you had a chance to decline it.

On a more general note: If prince ever visited this site, I can see why he no longer releases albums. He realizes his fan-base is comprised of way to many assholes (not necessarily shown by your post- but quite a few people's posts on this site show them to be petty dicks). Of all places where you'd think we could find a "community" of people who can be kind to one another based upon our shared love of a type of music, this would be it.

I was just talking about misspelling a simple word on a resume. I don't scan social media when I look to hire someone. I know lots of people/companies do, but if I can't judge a person correctly in a face-to-face interview, then...well, that's not even possible. If I meet you, I'm going to figure out if you'd work out or not.

But if one can't spell a simple word like "lose" correctly, they aren't ever going to make it to the face-to-face meeting.

Assholes are certainly a part of it, but I think Prince's problem would be that he finally has the fans, (very dumb) he deserves and that has got to be depressing.

To put it another way, Prince probably realizes on some level that he doesn't want to part of a club that would have him as a member.

Who coined that phrase? Was it Woody Allen? I love Woody Allen! Of course I mean his films and stories, not the person. He wrote a great short story that was in an American short story anthology; he gets trapped in a Spanish textbook at the end, with the verb "hablar" chasing him.

Someone posted a while back about Prince being similar to Woody Allen.

Interesting.

U should b grateful for spelling corrections: people mispelling online and thinking it's not important r destroying their own language, i.e. their own best tool for thinking. There is no unappropriate place for telling people they made a typo.

Seriously? Someone using u for "you," b for "be" and r for "are" talking about people destroying their own language?

Oh - and you misspelled "misspelling." And it's "inappropriate" - not "unappropriate."

Lawd - this place... disbelief

I'm no native speaker so I destroy YOUR language lol

Thanks for pointing out the mistakes, though: not being a native speaker is no excuse.

As for the "u", "b" and such well, they're ON PURPOSE, and they make sense on a Prince forum.

Everyone makes spelling errors, my point was that flaming people who points them out online isn't cool because it's basically a statement saying that proper spelling is crap.

Now that you know the thread title is misspelled, why not just edit it instead of arguing with everyone?

To

Too

Two different words.

:-)

And since you called me an asshole for helping you realize a grammar mistake, would it be fair to call you dumb for not knowing how to spell fourth grade level words?

I could have but I didnt. No need to get an ego dent over a subtle suggestion.

I didn't call you an asshole (see "not necessarily shown by your post").... but fuk it - my whole point is that its (or is it "it's") stupid to point out typos in internet fan forums. People type quickly w/ out thinking through the grammar in here. Who cares - why point it out? It's not a formal setting. If that meets your definition of "dumb" so be it - I'll take that charge. Ego is not dented - especially by anonymous prince fans....

....now back to the music...

Maybe we should have a grammar forum.

Good song is Turn Me Loose.

Not as good as Loose or Wild and loose or Turn it up.

Still not on topic here, eh?

Can I reiterate then, that I like Woody Allen movies?

Oh well, just look up "Turn Me Loose" on princevault.com and call it a day.
