SOTT is not a movie, it is just a concert footage and one of the best. i still listen to the original SOTT ALBUM that i bought when it was first released.i love everything about that concert. much, much better that RAVE

If you cant see or hear it, nothing that someone can tell you is going to help you see or hear it. But check this passages out anyway for proof:

1. The guitar work on the title song

2. The organ solo in the opening of Hot Thing - also dig the dances moves and the outfit.

3. THe sight of SHeila E in that spandex outfit with one leg

4. The choir vibe on Forever in My Life

5. If you cant smell the funk on Housequake and those crazy dances moves, youre dead

I never understood the critical brouhaha that sprung up about it either. The reverance from the fans I understand because of the album behind it, but when I watched it it never hit me the same way.

The guitar solo during the jazzy interlude of ICNTTPOYM -- awesome. It's almost like Prince can't believe it himself when he's up there in the dark, strumming notes and letting the guitar wail on its own on and on and on and on...

The concert is amazing and charismatic, Prince proves that once again throughout the whole show, it convinces everytime I watch it, and I see what all the talk was about, beside it having GREAT music...

for me, it's not the visual aspect of it as much as it is the musical aspect... it seems that most of the songs do much better in the live format than they do on the album, which surprised me the first time i watched it...

i never thought that the song "sign o the times" would translate well live... but it's one of my favorite performances... i love that the guitar is jacked up more in the live version... and the drums at the end are great...

the live version of "housequake" just kicks funky ass...

he kills the guitar in "i couldn't neve take the place of your man"...

honestly, i like the full band sound with these songs and i like the fact that the guitar sound is a bit heavier in a lot of the songs...

-- The round, glassy, chimey tone he always got with his Clouds -- heard best on ICNTTPOYM's solo and the solo for The Cross.

-- Sheila E.'s playing.

-- The guitar on the title track, as has been stated. (I still prefer the MTV award version, though. Rawer.)

-- The organ solo for Hot Thing (If you listen close, on the descending part, you hear a nod to Stevie Wonder's "They Won't Go When I Go."

-- "Back of dem mics, chil'ren."

-- Cat's beautiful eyes, when she looks at him sideways on ICNTTPOYM.

-- The fun in trying to figure out why Wally wore that ugly fur hat.

-- Levi's bass solo.

-- Miko's guitar solo.

-- Eric Leeds.

And, on the rental I saw, the preview of Chuck Berry's "Hail! Hail! Rock N' Roll!" heh heh. Keep meaning to rent that film...

I always skip Slow Love though.

I love the versions of the SOTT tracks: IIWYG, Hot Thing (love the organ intro), of course Forever In My Life, and I prefer Beautiful Night to the album version.

I have the Moonraker bootleg, I mp3'd it @ 320kpbs and have it shared on WinMX and Direct Connect - It's very popular with downloaders

I waas sooo disapointed when I read in DMSR by Per Neilson that this show was mainly lip-synced and overdubbed in MPLS instead of the full live show from Rotterdam. I LOVE this concert video and this revelation took out some of the joy of watching this video.

As a musician, this was a good one to watch & was actually the one that got me into P. I was just blown away by both him & the band musically

2 things:

1.Seeing this on the big screen was one of the great events in my life.The video tape version does not give this justice.When/if they put this on DVD a wide screen version should be available.

2.The first 20 minutes of this movie made me a Prince fan for life.(SOTT,PLAY IN THE SUNSHINE,LITTLE RED CORVETTE,SLOW LOVE,ICNTTPOYM,HOT THING)
