Pentacle

It's a little gem of an album: Prince & Morris Day performing acoustic versions of The Time and Vanity 6-songs, to a wildly appreciative audience, made up of holograms of all their ex-girlfriends.

They close with a rousing rendition of Baby I'm A Star, and three holograms of Michael Jackson, James Brown and Jerome Benton dance behind them.

Then Prince throws a hologram of a tambourine into the 'crowd' and walks off.

The only "small club" I know about is the wonderful Lovesexy aftershow. It's a soundboard and it's glorious and essential.

As others have posted here, it is essential. Something I have being meaning to ask here for awhile, what is the best version of it label wise. Back in the day, I first got it on vinyl (1990) thunderball label I think, then a few years later I got a German double CD pressing of it (1992) Living Legend Records, appears to be an Italian label. I actually got the CD in a regular record store which surprised me at the time.

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

I believe most versions are similar. I have the original x records boot on cd. Sabotage have a good one titled Trojan Horse. It has a tasty wee Lovesexy rehearsal as a bonus.
I think every well known boot label had a version of this show.

I have the Moonraker one, not sure if it's been superseded. It really is essential though, it should be near the top of anyone's list of boots to track down first.

It's the mother of all bootlegs! ( Prince boots that is) In fact it's one of those things that got the Prince hype going back in 88. It was even aired on Dutch radio back then. My copy set me back 100 old fashioned Dutch guilders when I got it one or two years later. I think it sold better than some of his albums!

It's only the best aftershow and (in my opinion) live boot there IS. Prince at his best doing new tracks, spontaneous freestyles, a cover of Cold Sweat that Boni sings lead on, and unreleased material. All on one fucking sweaty stage.

First copped it when I was about 15 and it blew my god damn MIND. Its simply the best, better than all the rest.

Just for info, this is the one I have:

I think I will have to get one of the other ones listed and make a comparison

Pulled this baby out the other day just to reminisce. It still hasnt lost its value. cool

I always wished the Camden Palace gig was the same quality wise, especially after seeing the clips in the "A Document" doco. The guitar solo during Just My Imagination is just......................

Ive got the longbox/digi-pak Turtle Label version of it.

Have no idea if the quality had progressed since then.
