hmmm

Am I going to get in trouble for not really making a choice?! razz I was excited to get something and I did enjoy the Mutiny/Ice Cream Castles jam, but if this is all a tease leading up to an Andy album only, then bored2 ... I need a little more Prince and a little less NPG. lol And I agree with Genesia; these jams sound edited. Not a bad thing for some, but not for me.

Amen! More Princey! Less NPG falloff and no troubles for not choosing falloff

Rehearsal jams are interesting if you take in account the whole process from raw draft to full show. Without the bigger picture raw rehearsals are pretty boring.

If these recording were leaked by some anonymous source we'd be scouring the internet looking for a download. Maybe in the future Prince and the NPG should just talk about the rehearsals and then keep them under wraps (a la the Divine), that might whet some peoples interest.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

nay right from the jump

A man who makes a definite choice from the jump cool Why?

cause funk is funk and this is junk

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Bull. Some intimate sessions can be more intense and more funky than big shows in front thousands.

The longer the better! Always loved long funk jams whether they're by Prince, James, P-Funk, whoever can rock the boat for 40 minutes non-stop! I cherish most of P's rehearsals that made it to boots, I ain't gonna complain if he starts releasing 'em...

There's joy in repetition biggrin

I more often than not agree with you but imho you're missing the point on this one.

It's not about 'whetting peoples' interest' - surely any negative comments would remain even if the track had 'leaked' as a boot. People would simply be saying it's good audio quality of a {insert same opinion} jam.

To my ears the jam goes on far too long - which puts into question for me why it is my head bobbing stops and I turn off part way through. And why I haven't bothered to a) listen again since the day it came out b) can't be bothered to seek out sources to even d/load it even for free

I think the jam is alright but nothing special likemost of the rehearsals I have from all the way back to 1983. There were very few rehearsal that were exceptional enough to deserve maybe getting spun in a DJ set. My point was this was given to us as opposed to us having to track it down online(or take it back further by getting up and going to the wreckastow). How many rehearsal jams did we buy and overhype because of the thrill of the hunt to find it? This one is a YAY for me because it's cool but it's nothing greater than or less than most of Prince's rehearsal jams. Still comparing it to previous jams fails because this line-up isn't those previous bands.

Agree

I don't think recordings can be 'bad', 'good' or 'excellent' based on how we come across them. If somethings mediocre it's mediocre. Period.

How many rehearsal jams did we buy and overhype because of the thrill of the hunt to find it?

'We' didn't and don't. I can only speak for myself of course.

Still comparing it to previous jams fails because this line-up isn't those previous bands.

I agree, although I will state I haven't actually based my experience of this jam on any previous line up. i know others have and I take your point
