Book Description

Product Description

Prince Rogers Nelson is one of the most important livign musicians. Regularly referred to as a genius since almost the very beginning of his recording career, his ten year run of hit albums during the eighties was unmatched by anyone else releasing records during that decade. This book, which will be timed to coincide with Prince's fiftieth birthday in 2008, will take a hard look at the life and work of a musical genius, concentrating on oral testimony from those who have worked with Prince, or thought hard about his thirty year career, and will allow everyone from fair weather fans to the die hard obsessive to understand his enormously interesting body of work, in all mediums, in the most revealing critical, biographical and artistic context possible. Propose interviewees will include: : All members of Revolution Band, Shelia E, nelson George, George Clinton, Mel B, Kristen Scott THomas, Spike Lee, Kim Basinger, Sinead O'Connor, Bono, Joni Mitchell, Madonna, Tim Burton, David Bowie, Charles Shaar Murray, Oprah Winfrey and Paul Morley.

About the Author

Matt Thorne has published five adult novels to widespread critical acclaim, co-edited the anthology All Hail the New Puritans, and is a regular reviewer for the Independent on Sunday.
As you can see, if I'm reading correctly, this book was originally meant to out 4 years ago!!!

I hope this isn't the author's sixth erotic novel sick

That list of interviewees should raise alarm bells for anyone that most, if not all, are taken from old press and media interviews, not ones conducted for the book itself.

Matt Thorne has been working on this book for some time.

It was briefly alluded to when he appeared on BBC's Front Row in 2007, following his attendance at 19 of the 21 Nights in London at the O2.

ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

It´s about time for a more detailed, in depth Prince bio that covers more than just the years up until the name change. Sure, there have been quite a few new releases since Per Nielsen´s DMSR and Alex Hahn´s Possessed but from what I´ve seen, they didn´t really come close to the work of Nielsen, Dave Hill or Alex Hahn ( though the opinions regarding the latter are quite mixed, and understably so).

I hope this one is up to date, in depth and accurate, and does not consist of a bunch of rehashed newspaper articles like that infamous book Slave to the Rhythm by Liz Jones.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

True. Quite some time. It has had a name change or two also.
