Spiritual Boom! Went to a musical festival this weekend and heard two obscure songs off the Rainbow Children album--what a treat! Prince pops up in the most unexpected places. LOL The irony is that very few people knew Theocratic Order, although they were dancing to it! lol

Where was this at? And what was the other song played?

This video is in tribute and respect of the genius of Prince Rogers Nelson!! I wanted to speak about those songs that I consider a 'Spiritual Boom'. Songs that take you places, songs where you wonder how did he come up with that? Inspiring songs that are ethereal, examples of this include songs like: Power Fantastic, Into The Light/I will Rebirth Of The Flesh, Computer Blue, Hypno'Paradise, Welcome 2 The Dawn. These songs are very special in that Prince is the only one I can really see come out with this. PLEASE share with me some of the songs I failed to mention!

While Prince does not 'Count The Days' as he once did. His reasoning is that he was only born once, & therefore should not celebrate it continuously as this makes one older. He feels like time is just a trick, & that birthdays R essentially just 'Pagan'. Which I never understood the reason 2 call specific traditions/days/events as 'Pagan'.

ANYTHING could literally be pagan, excusing only certain events as pagan is just 'out there' 4 me. But to each is own, everyone is able 2 make up their mind on which days should be respected or not. smile

He even said "If it makes no mind of what color or holy day, why is this a game in which we play?" - Beautiful Strange

Nonetheless, PLEASE share with me some of your favorite songs whether it be 'Spiritual' or not? Maybe you like songs where he is talking about Head, or sister..lol. I'd just like to know what your interests are in respect to Prince!

Much love to you all and Peace & Be Wild! headbang

You name some good ones. I would add to that....God is Alive, The Cross, Anna Stesia, The Holy River, Question of U, The Ladder, 7 , his version of One of Us; and the music in My Name is Prince especially the alternative versions!

Thank you, EyeJester7! I've been meaning to respond to your thread since I first saw it. I had a permanent smile on my face while watching your video, and I've enjoyed reading everyone else's posts too. Lots of songs I need to listen to again!

I don't know if this fits with your idea of "spiritual booms" (and I don't want to bring the booms back to earth!), but sometimes the songs that move me the most are the ones that are funny or silly. Lyrically, a lot of songs are laugh out loud funny to me or make me smile, like when Prince talks about wanting to break into dance mid-song (one example, Around the World In a Day) or the chants in Play in the Sunshine. Even musically, I feel like you can totally HEAR happiness/humor, like in the random finger cymbal or tambourine layered into the mix of instruments. (Momentary brain freeze and I can't think of good examples other than Tambourine--duh.)

Maybe because I don't totally buy the idea that artists need to be tortured, brooding souls in order to access truths, or that something needs to be serious or on a serious topic to explore life's meaning(s). Humor is just as powerful/enlightening. Maybe not Head lol , but sometimes you need a good laugh to rattle you out of a funk and shift your perspective or to counteract and better understand the heavier/heady things in life. I know of another famous bard who did this in his writings, but I think it's pretty special that each Prince album can cover a range of experiences/emotions, which as a whole journey is a spiritual boom (i.e., the Gold Experience).

Thanks again, and sorry for the semi-coherent ramblings!
