Facedown...discussion time folks! (Dead like Elvis) {sample repeated in song}
Check, check, 1 2, check U know what he's sayin'?
Face down! {x2}
Somebody once told him that he wouldn't take Prince through the ringer Let him go down as a washed up singer Ain't that a bitch? Thinkin' all along that he wanted 2 be rich Never respected the root of all evil and he still don't 2 this day, huh Bury him face down, let the motherfuckers kiss a ass, OK?
Face down! {x2}
Told 'em he wanted 2 sing a song about a black child goin' buck wild And they just laughed in his face Talk 2 your lawyer but U got no case What U need 2 do is keep your place Next time U pull a card, it better be a ace motherfucker Or U can lay face down (Face down!)
1 2 Face down! 1 2
Horn {x2} Bass {x2}
Him and her meaning who I'm singin' about And his psychoanalyst kinda saw the catalyst As the devil with the blue jeans on, huh Ain't it kinda funny when U see the dawn? Sign the name they gave ya But when them motherfuckers turn around ass up, U're what?
Face down! 1 2 Face down! New Power Generation in the house, bury 'em all Face down! Yes, oh Lord Face down!
Orchestra {x3} Face down! Orchestra Face down!
It's in his will, I read it He shot 2 kill, he said it 4 those who know the number and don't call Hmph, fuck all y'all
Face down! {x3} |

The live version from NYC that he released on the cassingle be Jam O the Year is the best version. I replaced the studio version with that one on my Emancipation playlist on iTunes. |

I just don't like it, a weak morose rap. 99's Dead like Elvis line does not help either, one of the weakest cuts on Emancipation, sorry Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name |

I totally love the songs and its video. The lyrics are a wonderful "fuck you", though I've never understood these lines:
"Him and her meaning who I'm singin' about And his psychoanalyst kinda saw the catalyst As the devil with the blue jeans on, huh"
Anyone can translate 4 me ?
Thanks
PS: I remember that girl which was hysterical about the video and said : "Wow! This video now demonstrates that Prince can play violin and horns too, he's such a genius!". I explained to her that Christopher Reeves actually wasn't really flying in the Superman movies |

TOTALLY AGREE!
In fact this is the definitive version of this song for me. I love the original but the cursing is just too much for me...I think in the a-capella version he realized all of that cursing was a bit too much. If only he added the base in there!...It would have been amazing! But nevertheless, it's funk number! It's Button Therapy, Baby! |

I love the "Mountain View" live version of "Facedown". Too funky!!! "A united state of mind will never be divided

People can slam their door, disagree and fight it
But how U gonna love the Father but not love the Son?
United States of Division"

Yes. His Bass solo was insane. The live video version- when he plays the bass through his legs while he is jumping up and down is physically unbelieveable. It's one of those P moments (like the backwards crawl/splits across the stage in SOTT movie during Housequake) that make you gasp for air.
Incredible moments. |

I like the acappella version, but there is an edit in the version that I have. Some of the lyrics are edited, so I'm not sure if this same edit is on the vinyl version. "A united state of mind will never be divided
The real definition of unity is 1
People can slam their door, disagree and fight it
But how U gonna love the Father but not love the Son?
