Prince with Symphony Orchestra Tour, I don't really know how to describe how I'd imagine these songs would sound like with an orchestra. But I think his cornier/cheesier songs would sound better with an orchestra behind them.

In Theory, a great idea, especially for some of the Lovesexy and Graffiti Bridge material.

In reality, this is a new trend by over 50 artists, as Sting, and George Michael have done this with mixed results.

Since I don't like Prince following trends, let those other dinosaurs keep following trends. Prince may hardly ever play much new material live, Sting and George Michael don't even write anymore. Sting keeps releasing albums of ancient songs, and hasn't done anything close to rock music in ages.

It's been a trend for longer than that, Meatloaf did it in the 90's or 80's and elton John did it in the 70's iirc.

Beethoven did it too way back when. Bloody impersonator! He should have stuck with his psychadelic punk infused hip hop.

With Prince ideas are limitless. I say take the NPG Festival for long, 2 day concerts around the US.

LA, NY, Miami, Minneapolis

Switch up the band a little bit. i say something like this:

Questlove-Drums

Lisa-Keys and vocals

Wendy-Guitar and vocals

Morris Hayes-organ and keys

Ida-Bass and vocals

Eric Leeds or Maceo Parker- sax

NO SHELBY, NO BACKGROUND SINGERS BESIDES THE ABOVE NAMED AND AS LESS CHANTS AS POSSIBLE. NO SAMPLER SET

He can still play the hits since he'd still have to appeal to the masses.

I know some ppl hate the hits but it's not that big of a deal and it's realistic.

he can still throw in songs we rarely hear or anything he decides to pull out.

Sample:

D.M.S.R

Pop Life

Musicology w/ Prince and the Band

Shhh

Take Me With U

Raspberry Beret

Cream

Cool

Anna Stesia with The One

Piano Medley: (Do Me Baby/Diamonds and Pearls/Under The Cherry Moon/The Ladder/How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore/The Beautiful Ones)

Let's Go Crazy/Delirious

1999

Little Red Corvette

When Doves Cry (full song)

17 Days

Mountains/Dance Electric

Controversy w/ Housequake (first verse and chorus)

Kiss

If I Was Your Girlfriend

Let's Work

U Got The Look

America

A Love Bizarre On A Blue Train (Mashup) haha

Sometimes It Snows in April

Purple Rain

If he's gonna do covers, do good ones. Keep the Time songs (i love cool live) Keep Sheila E songs (bring out Love on a Blue Train) Add some Hendrix, P-Funk, Miles Davis, James Brown and other GOOD classics. Do them mostly at aftershows too like

Stratus

Power Fantastic

Love is A Losing Game

Villanova Junction

Colonized Mind

She's Always in My Hair

I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man

Insatiable/Scandalous/Adore

Chocolate/Mutiny

Mothership Connection

Strange Relationship

Days of Wild w/ Wild and Loose & Ain't Nobody

idk that's just my realistic 2 cents.

It's not a trend, imo, I just love the combination of different styles and methods. Inspiring.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

1. Remove all backup/co-lead singers

2. Try to get Jesse in the band

Here's my imaginary setlist:

Funk Section:

The Dance Electric

D.M.S.R.

Extraloveable

Controversy (No "Housequake")

I Wanna Be Your Lover (Instrumental if the lyrics are too racy)

Jungle Love

Love Bizzare

Ice Cream Castles/Mutiny

P-Funk Cover

Musicology

Erotic City (Instrumental band interlude so Prince can get a little purple break)

Piano Section:

Do Me, Baby (Prince comes back on the piano, the band is no where to be seen)

Strange Relationship

Medley: Pop Life/I Feel For You/Gotta Broken Heart Again/Joy In Repition/Take Me With U/Diamonds And Pearls/Money Don't Matter 2 Night

One Nite Alone....

Scandalous

Adore

Anna Steisa (Band joins in during climax. Prince ends it with guitar solo)

Guitar Section:

Purple Rain (Prince plays guitar and continues right after Anna Steisa)

Encore:

Let's Go Crazy (True to the album version)

When Doves Cry (The FULL song)

Kiss

Call My Name

Encore 2:

Little Red Corvette (Guitar solo at the end closes show)

Totally agree! A lot of people seem to feel his best shows are the more intimate ones, in a small place. Maybe it's the thrill of being up close and personal and the exclusivity of it. I've seen him countless times in an intimate setting and the thrill of that ends too. Personally, I've always had a better time in a full theatre/arena with thousands of screaming fans on their feet and the sound of thunderous applause. Prince seems to exude more energy at a larger show as well.

Oh this is making me feel much better - I am still sobbing over missing the Eatons Hills after show -

but glad I caught the two arena shows. biggrin

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜
