They all have their ups and downs.

Very Best of= cheapest and contains all the essentials

Bsides= the biggest, with lots of good bsides

Ultimate= awesome awesome Vinyl stuff that was preveiously unreleased

For us crazy Prince heads, of course we would like a set with EVERY outtake and all the unreleased stuff in perfect quality, but for newbie prince people I think these "starter sets" are really good.

A friend of mine lent me Sign O the Times and I saw purple rain all in one week, so after that I was itching to get some prince music, and I bought very best of. It was perfect for me at the time. Had I known I was gonna end up buying every prince album I wouldn't have done it, but it was the right thing for me at that time

The Hits/The B-Sides is a really well made collection but the 2nd of Ultimate is awesome. Too bad the full version of Erotic City didn't make the final cut, same with Purple Medley.

I agree with The Hits/The B-Sides. I listen to it all the time and it's so many songs i never get tired of it.

I think the Hts/B-Sides woulda been cooler if all the songs had been in chronological order, and if it had contained a more balanced content between albums (some albums were under-represented or ignored). Now there was the explicit lyrics issue for the USA, and also there was a bit too much material to include from for 3 CD's to be enough anyway

But VERY BEST doesn't contain the song 7. Otherwise the perfect hit essentials.

Hits/bsides is the best one plus you get peach/nctu/thepope/power fantastic.

a lot of the 2nd cd on ultimate was available on cd singles.

My homemade compilation. I guess that doesn't count

Agreed. But if we're gonna go down that road, why doesn't Hits/Bsides contain 'Girls & Boys'???

Because it wasn't that big of a hit, even in europe

bigger hit than money don't matter 2 night and it's on the disc. I think it's a way of making people by more than 1 "hits" collection.

Money Don't Matter 2 Night isnt on TH/TBS but it is on the other 2 compilations

I thought we where talking the very best. But we are talking Hits/bsides. They only wanted so many songs. So, they just left off girls and boys, mountains etc.

I have all three of the official ones because I'm a fammy-fam, but they are all flawed in some way. I'm going to go against the grain and say The Very Best of Prince because its simplicity frustrates me the least.
