Electric Chair - William Orbit remix

At least, I think it was William Orbit. This remix is hot! OK, that's all I wanted to say. Go back to dancing.

No flames, please, but I have the original CD release of "The Future" and "Electric Chair" remixes -- and I have never been too impressed. I thought the mixes were kind of dull. Just sounds like P asked a DJ to do the mixes and that was that. Just my opinion. smile

I think the mixes were pretty radical at the time for Prince. Maybe they sound a little dated now, but isn't all dance music meant for a certain moment in time?

Agree BinaryJustin. Such a dance/club oriented mix for Prince was very radical at the time. Prince was known for doing extended remixes where some songs would take on a whole new form (ala I Wish You Heaven). But, to my knowledge, Electric Chair was the first time Prince let someone else remix his work and it was done in a style that made the song totally acceptable on any club's dancefloor. Some fans don't or won't like the William Orbit remix because the Orbit mix removes a lot of the "traditional" Prince sound. But the fact that the song is turned into almost a straight dance club song is what makes the mix special. It's anything BUT a typical Prince remix.

No it wasn't... Hot Thing, Glam Slam and Batdance came before. Housequake and Partyman if you include unreleased stuff.

That William Orbit sound may be a bit tired now, but back when he did theses mixes it was extremely fresh. And Orbit's albums just after that time were also stunning (anyone who has the Strange Cargo albums should back me up on that one, especially no.3).

Since, of course, Orbit has saturated his sound with Madonna, All Saints etc...and this is over 10 years later peeps!!!

I agree his remix of The Future was better.

It did not really strike me too but strangely enough a friend of mine who's musician (and not in the same musical style at all) got hooked by those remixes!!!

I really like 'The Future' remix - but that's probably because I love the original so much. I love all his dark, mysterious tracks.

'Electric Chair' remix, though?? Forget it.
