Prince is attracting far better publicity now that he's gone underground. Who knows what will happen when he resurfaces?

Rainbow Children makes Prince underground? I don't get that label. There aren't too many underground artists I know selling out amphitheatres and arenas, with commercials to promote their last LPs. shrug

I think the Cat can have Both if He balances His Material out Right.take A Album like "1999" for example: you can Be Successful&still Stay with your feet to the Streets.it's all about Balance.

I agree with mistermaxxx as well. He needs balance. A lot of people out there don't even know that he's still making music and think that he is some sort of Vanilla Ice case.

I personnally prefer Prince being an Underground artist again because the masses usually blindly follow trends. They rarely if ever dissect the complexity found in music. I could careless if the MTV crowd digs Prince or not because they really have no taste at all. Through no fault of their own of course, they've been fed terrible music for so long that it has become a commodity like everthing else in this country. For example, a large amount of people LOVE the Beatles because they were such a huge pop act in all over the world however these same fans rarely if ever take the time to appreciate the musicianship found on Beatles albums. I feel that most people don't dig Prince because his music is challenging and complex and often times it takes repeated listens to figure out and dissect all of the things contained in his songs. Most mass consumers of music don't give this much attention to detail therefore he flies under the radar. When Prince goes into his experimental underground sound he stays true to his art and challenges his listeners with complex and intelligent albums that are usually ahead of their time.
