small venue tour if prince should ever do a small venue tour, would you go ? not like an aftershow show, but a regular concert, with no bling bling, just music with a small group. would you like that ? with less impressive dancing and show elements, no big screens, but rather focussed on the music. and I don't care for him to play all his greatest hits, as long as he plays them as a full 'song', with long beginnings and ends, and with an approach of like it's going to be his last.. no medley's no mix, no samples, no dancing girls, no special guests, just a normal concert (world tour. experiencing the music to grow again). a worldwide tour maybe. like a intimate start over. would you like that (too) ?
((( Prince, R U listening ? )))
how can we ask him, apporach him, proposing something so challenging, yet so fragile to do ?
that would be my dream at least. to maek him find that very personal 'purple soul' again ... "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

Prince is a popstar...so just music would make him not that special..(he was always more than music) and never ending songs are just boring ( listen to the latest rehearsal stuff...the first 2 minutes are good but the rest ...meeh) I saw the ONA tour, where he tried to focus on the music. Jamming on a song for 10 minutes..Waste of money and time ( for me he lost his fire)! I was so happy when musicology came out, the shows were really good...

Yeah because the Musicology tour never had any 10 minute jams did it?

the idea sounds great - but to make it worth his while and to pay expenses the tickets would be very expensive - €500 each anyone?

prince idea of jamming is a joke .. basically a one note kick drum thud with a one chord crap funk lick or bass groove that goes on way too long with some dumb chant .. no real improvisation .. no chord changes .. no interesting drumming .. no interesting keyboards .. maybe a sax solo and if he's got the wrong horn player thats pretty boring too ..
small clubs .. full length songs .. original arrangements .. no horns doing guitar parts .. no jazz interlude .. no latin drum solo .. no chants ..
go ahead charge 300 bucks a pop .. that will cover the loss .. hell do 2 2 hour shows in one night at the same venue instead of a 3 hour main show and 1 hour crappy covers show .. oh yeah .. no covers .. unless they are prince and the revolution covers, since we all know he didn't solely write his best material .. oh yeah .. and robot drums .. i wanna hear the kiss beat on kiss .. not some asswipe who is trying to imitate it .. lets hear some linn mixed with live drums on lady cab driver and irrisistable bitch .. lets hear some fat custom overdrive keyboards that make ur gut quake instead of some one sampler fits all keyboard sounds he bought from walmart ..
lets hear some deep cuts in their full glory .. none of this .. i said the words dance electric therefore i played the song crap .. sing the whole song prince .. and play the right chords .. dance electric has more than one chord in the whole song .. jeesh

On par with the 4/20 aftershow @ The House Of Blues during ONA...but that was a tiny venue. Edit...oops...looks like the Kodak theater(now the Doubly Arena) was smaller @ 3,200 vs. the riimac at 5k. I would much rather a smaller venue than a large one and definitely Prince on his own. He can leave his Fender telecaster or any other noisy guitar at home and just bring an acoustic. Like the Mtv unplugged shows. (He's allowed to bring Andy Mckee though if he likes). I think improvisation is best. Full song/medley whatever springs to mind while he's playing. Prince doesn't need backup in a small setting just jamming around. I like jamming around. Oh actually he can bring a bass guitar too.
I'd pay 500 if the concert was 3 hours and venue small enough. But also only tickets to fans from the country itself and not 'to buy' through some outsider disfunctional website. Finally, I'd like a dvd of the evening so I can re-live the experience afterwards.
As an audience we shouldn't be on top of him but give him some space and of course no cameras/phones! Would be hard to arrrange coz many would want to go I suppose.
Alternatively, we could get an insider into Paisley Park where he records and plays around with his toys.......they can plant a secret camera. Maybe that'll get him nervous enough to consider your idea. As a last resort every fan can bombard him with mail I suppose. We'll each send our request in a big empty box (each of us) until he does our show at least on a dvd. Oh yes, there must be something from every album. He's allowed a year to work on it. Any other ideas? "Free URself, B the best that U can B, 3rd Apartment from the Sun, nothing left to fear" Prince Rogers Nelson - Forever in my Life -

With new material only( from 2000 on) and a new band .yes! We need some something different than the hitz.but I doubt this will happen!

There's no need to pay $500 for a ticket ! Come on, Prince has enough money. Money isn't the issue here, and certainly not for Prince. A small venue concert certainly isn't that expensive like organising the shows he does nowadays.
Even his songwriting sucks. He lives in his own protected world, and lost touch with reality a bit i think. "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

Yep, he certainly needs to play some new material. Not only new though. Like, one song an album.. that's already quite a lot !

He should make amends with Michael B., get Sonny T. back on board too and do a trio tour with no stage props. He'd clean up.

hahahaha, funny .... those 2 will never ever play again with Prince.
Too much harm done by Prince ... too bad for us indeed I AM LOOKING FOR USED PRINCE CONCERT TICKETS ... https://www.facebook.com/...erttickets

charging $75 a 'pop' as you state it, will do. Believe me, small venue shows, even for Prince's 'size' as a pop star will make him gain $. But certainly not as much as he wins with a big show.

Y'know...as much fun as was poked at the idea of Prince "playing Vegas," that residency was amazing.
And you want to talk about a small venue - the back room of the restaurant, with its capacity of 70 people, is as small as you're likely to get. It was magical. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

i can go with that and one song only so that it can make at least a 30 song setlist easily, however no purple rain song man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

The more fuzz we create here, altogether, the more chance we have Prince will read it. since he's here on the Org from time to time apparently. Yep, our little purple sticky wicked himself as I've heard.. That little naughty boy. "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. I love Purple Rain just as much as I love the B sides of his singles. So, I'm the weird fan who likes the obscure as much as the popular songs. So, I say no to axing Purple Rain in big arenas. I enjoyed the ONA tour. I would be happy with a tour like that. Perhaps just a small tour only using time/family/Shiela e./JillJones/Martika songs. You can throw in the songs that he gave to Kenny Rogers and Celion Dion too. That would be awesome mini tour! 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

arenas are fine 4 PR but small venues ..leave that shit out! lol
one of my favorite lines from ONA this is not 1984 if u came 2 get ur purple rain on, u might as well hit the door THIS AIN'T THAT TYPE OF PARTY! man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

i dont mind if prince plays the hits .. as long as he plays them right
i challenge prince to do kiss and have it actually sound like the record
or any of his songs .. prince is as much a sound as he is a song
he needs the prince sound .. none of this dionne warwicks backing band for some easy listening prince shit
sign o the times on the musicology was an improvement .. but most of his songs he ruins with his ego thinking he can just change the song up all the time
no i dont want to hear something in the water on piano ... i wanna hear it sound fucking good like it used to with those wierd drums and sounds
the medleys kill the songs
the one verse and a guitar solo kills the songs
the chant one song over the music of another song kills the songs
asking the crowd to sing while prince does not kills the songs
yo prince people are there to hear you SING .. its your BEST instrument by far .. use it!!!
your piano solos are boring .. your guitar solos are interchangeable unless you are copying dez solo note for note .. which is a good idea
your bass solos are boring
yes ur technically good but who fuckin cares .. ur prince .. be prince .. not some lame ass studio musician who can play scales fast
never play another cover song again .. that would be a huge improvement and a good place to start

Ya know, i agree on most you state here.
Absolutely true for him to be 'Prince', indeed he is as much a sound as he is a song. Well said !
Prince being so technically good concernes me too. It's overwhelming these days. I prefer his less perfect live sound from the early days. I don't want a tight ass band eiter. They're paid to just do exactly what Prince wants, and that is to listen, and keep their eyes on him every fucking second. Can be good, but mostly, it's suffocating as well for the musicians and most important for the music itself !
And the biggest request of them all - form my side at least - is him to be 'dirty' again. And I mean, really playfull purple bad ass dirty with that sexual lust that makes him so original. Hell he might fuck his microphone again if he wants, or treat the mic like a lady.. He's too clean in many ways, also his clownesque clothing, make up, hands movements, etc.. Too clean. Much too clean.

I don't mind no PR for a change. But all hell will break loose if we start discussing which one song from each album. Might make for a nice research though! a 30 song set list, one song from each and then we'll need genre threads to keep the peace.
