The CD compilation of Prince for a friend...... They asked for one, they don't want the hits, the ones everyone knows - they want to stuff that makes YOU love the music so much - the real fantastic deep Prince-like-no-one-else-could songs.
Which 15 songs would you choose? [This message was edited Thu Feb 27 17:31:01 PST 2003 by MiaBocca] --------------------

I have been wondering the same thing. My boss has "never seen the point" of Prince (!) but would be interested in listening to a compilation to persuade him otherwise.
He (my boss) is predominantly into acoustic female singer songwriters though so making him listen to Sexual Suicide, Days of Wild, Hide da Bone etc is likely to "confirm his worst fears" about Prince! Aside from playing him The Truth and some ONAL tracks (Xenophobia, I Wanna B Your Lover, Avalanche) what else should I select?

I played 'Lady Cab Driver' to a friend who heard the track for the first time last month. I thought it was quite a harmless choice until she started hearing Jill Jones moans during Prince's "This is for" speech.
In fact she was quite alarmed by this and asked: "Is she having an orgasm or is she being murdered???". . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."

Good question. I have done this for a few friends & family members now. Especially the past few years...are people finally figuring out Prince has always been cool? Who knows, but it always fun introducing his genius to people who once dissed him.
anyway, the compilation I have always done is as follows: 1) Play In The Sunshine 2) Private Joy 3) Ballad of Dorothy Parker 4) Adore 5) Strange Relationship 6) Vicki Waiting 7) Starfish & Coffee 8 Forever in my Life 9) She Loves Me 4 Me (recent addition, replaced When 2 are In Love) 10) Mountains 11) She's Always in My Hair 12) 17 Days 13) Supercute 14) Anotherloverholenyohead

just tell them to buy the hits, the b-sides and work it around from that.
They will end up buying the whole back catologue from there. I get hard if the wind blows your cologne near me

I dont think theyre on albums that I have (although I dont have a photographic memory for this stuff!) Space (acoustic version) is from the "Space" CD single. I believe it's still in print. Forever in My Life (SOTT live version) is from the Sign o' The Times live concert video. It's not officially released on CD, tho it can be found on bootlegs. So Blue and I'm Yours are both from Prince's first album, "For You". 7 (acoustic) is from the 7 CD-single - It should still be available. Don't Walk is actually "Walk Don't Walk" from the Diamonds & Pearls CD Come Outside & Play is an outtake - I believe from the Batman era. It's never been officially relased, but it's widely available on bootlegs. Hope that helped!
