So Blue appreciation

It sounds like Joni Mitchelle doing calypso/blues.

I dig So Blue - his voice is so clear on it, sounds like he has his lips right up to the mic. I feel like he's singing directly into my ear... music

According to Steve Ivory's biography, Prince waited until he had a cold before he recorded his vocals for this, since that was the effect he wanted for 'So Blue'.

I'd say it's one of his most underrated songs.

That is interesting. No wonder the For You sessions went over budget. I mean, can you imagine Prince chucking a bucket of water over himself, sitting buttnekkid with just a guitar covering him, waiting for that darn cold. lol

he didn't sound nearly as nasal on "so blue" than he did on "do it all night". the brotha sounded like he seriously needed 2 blow his nose on that one...
