Is P going to release a W2 Blu Ray?

HEY YO!

Now before people reply with P cant release a Blu Ray cos it wont sell comments.

Why wont it sell?

Look at Australia for example the place went bananas for Prince. And im sure other places around the world where Prince has toured the crowds have been great.

Why wouldnt a W2 blu ray sell?

So you are saying that Kings of Leon, Radiohead and Cage the Elephant sell more Blu Rays than Prince?

I dont understand why Prince has issues with releasing his concerts on DVD or Blu Ray and in its entire format not edited like RAVE and Aladdin.

For example my parents and my friends do not understand why I went to 2 Prince Melbourne concerts. When I try to tell them its the best live experience ever they still dont get it. And then I have to show them some cam job video posted on Youtube with crappy sound and shakey footage and they are not conviced. If there was a Prince Blu Ray in 1080p with fantastic picture and audio then many people who would probably not see prince would show intrest and see how good he is and possibly have more respect for him as an artist.

Even for personal enjoyment. Im sure us Prince fans would love to have a 1080p Prince concert in our collection to enjoy for many years rather than surfing the net for bootlegs and fan shot crap. I dont know about you guys, I put on Santana and Stevie Blu Rays in my Home Theather room and it is fantastic then I go and put on a Prince DVD or Bootleg and it is just horrible.

I dont know about you guys but I do not like cam job concerts I know there are many of them out there but Prince is not a back alley pub artist he is a megastar and we shouldnt have to be subjected to not having at least a decent concert on blu ray or dvd.

If there is one thing I dont like about Prince its his methods of not releasing dvds and blu rays

Discuss guys.

HEY YO!

Not everyone can wait 10 years for Prince to be live in concert.

Not every Aussie has money to go see Prince in Cochella or Montreux, or Paris or London.

Im pretty sure a Blu Ray of those concerts is a good substitute

Also with the thriving underground Prince Concert Bootleg market there is a huge demand for Prince concert videos smile

do we have any numbers on how big that market is? and are we counting everyone who downloads them for free or just the bozos that spend money?

i have a bunch of friends my age that were excited to see him in concert when he came, but theres no way any of them would have bought a concert dvd. the demand/excitement for concerts is nowhere near the same

It just wouldn't well...I think...

It'd be fun if he did tho....

A welcome to.... Bluray that featured segments from the different continents he's been 2 with the tour...America, Canada, US, AUS,...he been Europe with it yet? When he's done, release a combination audio and audiovisual release....bluray in store includes digital audio only dwnld/cd...audio only is itunes friendl(fat chance). Is be a compilation of many shows a la One Night Alone...Live. I don't think it would sell well but it'd be cool if he tried....

Start to make live content standard in releases ...at least attempt to....do for digital releases what misicokogy did/was supposed to do for pop music concerts.

Market?

Almost every popular artist around has either a concert dvd/ documentary dvd, or a bluray in some cases multiple blu rays.

Look at Bob Dylan for example he has over 10 dvds out maybe even more

Rolling Stones have many

Madonna

Michael Jackson

Usher

Beyonce

U2

Santana

Phil Collins

Fleetwood Mac

Janet Jackson

Miles Davis

Kanye

Even Candy Dulfer & Maceo Parker have DVDs out

So why is it not profitable for Prince to release a Blu Ray or a proper concert DVD

THe Market thing just dosent make sense in my opinion.

Prince isnt a small struggling artist he is a superstar.

Is there any other facts or info as to why he does not release a concert?

I for one would love to have a blu-ray of the W2 tour. It would be good just to have more recent live material of P instead of having to revert back to older DVD quality which was great but technology has moved on and doesn't quiet hold the experience that it used too after having watched them who knows how many times. The just released 'Sign o the Times' on blu-ray is good but I seen this many times before, and am craving for new material.

I need newer recorded material on blu-ray in 1080p with DTS-HD Master Audio in 7.1 at 192kHz/24bit and I would love it to be the W2 tour.

Yeah, me too. I am building a collection now on Blu, have Queen, Shakira, need more and of course, would love Prince. i agree witht DaddyMac %100. Cannot show my friends ANY Prince stuff, it's all so horrible. A shame for someone so, not only, talented, but important. A legend. A real shame,

Meaning I am new to Blu. I have TONS on DVD. I would actually rather watch a concert DVD/BLU than a movie, and i watch them everyday. From Kylie to Aimee Mann, Tenacious D to Bob Dylan, Berryz Kobo to Momoiro Clover (Z) (actually mostly watch J-Pop Idol concerts) I have hundreds..

It's highly unlikely that he'll release a DVD or Blu-Ray.

I'd love a 3d one so I can pretend he's in my living room! Plus isn't 3d harder to just download?

Sort of like Iron Maiden's Flight 666 DVD/Blu-Ray? A documentary mixed in with live clips from all over the world?

I think that would be AWESOME!!!

I personally love concert DVD's and Blu-Rays. People like Rush put one out after every tour and they sell pretty well. I'd love a Prince one, as long as it's done better than that Alladin one.

I wouldn't think so...its only more info/bytes...the issue is with the extras needed to view.

I hope you read this Prince!

Considering you will have filmed all these concerts we should be able to have one every year or so.

Just don't insult as with another Alladan Dvd, pay people to do it properly, on Bluray.....we will buy it!

Wouldn't that undercut his sales if you could basically find it for free on the internet? In lieu of some amazing extras and the sound quality factor what's the big selling point? There are whole tours floating around out there.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I really think it comes down to the his anticipated sales projection...(read, not much).

It's funny that most of you think that concert CD's would solidify and increase his popularity....

But, from his POV, a poor selling DVD would only diminish his legecy.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

That is not an excuse though. P is not the only artist in the world that is bootlegged. Just go to Demoniod or other places you can find bootlegs of just about any artist some of whom release concert blu rays and dvds all the time.

It's true that other artists get bootlegged but I've yet to come across an artist who gets bootlegged to the extent that Prince has. Prince's show routinely hit the web within days of the performance be it audio or video of that show. The whole run of 21 Nights In London was bootlegged not just the occasional show here or there. I have live show videos of Prince performances from as far back as 1982.

I think it would make some money but I don't believe a lot of his hardcore/diehard fanbase would buy it at first. Look at his previous DVD releases and they hated them. They'd find an illegal way to get it first then maybe put out the money afterwards for a legit copy if they enjoyed it enough. Casual fans would more likely buy it outright. Too many jaded/jilted diehards nowadays.

HEY YO!

Well P is touring Australia at the moment and the regular joe walking around Australia will tell you this answer about Prince. Ohh is he back, last thing he did was Cream wasnt it?

Now that Prince is back in the spotlight his Hits /B Sides has entered the Top 5 Album charts in Australia.

Now with that in mind a Blu Ray of some sorts would have sold well and generated more intrest amongst the public.

Also with regards to botleggers, it may be true P is the most bootlegged artist but thats also because he is a prick and does not want to release anything on dvd or blu ray.

Im a huge Prince fan but I dont have the time for watching some crappy camera job release. And that goes for all artists.

Can someone please tell me why everyone else gets their Montreux performances released except Prince. I mean there are even Candy Dulfer Montreux dvds out there...are you saying that there is more of a market for Candy Dulfer DVDs than Princes?

He thinks it will lower his stock as a touring artist... I.e. live concert Blu Ray available everywhere equals less ticket sales. Not saying its right, just saying I think that's Princes thought process. With hardly anything available anymore officially, it's about keeping the mystique and the demand high at all times.

People are lazy, they don't go to the movies to see a blockbuster as much anymore when they know they can wait for a on demand or a download at home. And it's harder to get the oldies out of the house to see a concert, with cheap big screen tvs... So... Anyway thats my theory. Prince doesn't want to make it easy for people to see him live, so they must buy a ticket and go see him!

Treat em mean and keep em keen!
