I Could Never Take the place -fast version vs. Slow Original fast or Slow.Which version you like better? Slow version was performed in 2002 and 2o12 . If somebody asked me this question back in 2002 i would say the slow bluesy version.but with time i had learn to appriciate original much more.so many great things happening in the original. When Prince sings : It hurts me so bad when i saw the tears in her eyes. The back vocal kick in with a great melodic line singing The Tears in her eyes. The guitar solo is epic and the Pink Flydish one man jam is cool.nothing can topic the original.i think the slow version don't work in terms of music.the bridge of the original is played in the sad slow version the same harmonic way as the original. But that part work so much better when the song is played in the major

I've always been a BIG fan of the original. Haven't heard the slower rendition, but based on the responses I've seen I'm excited to check it out.

This is a great song you can dedicate to a chick when you need an excuse to not be serious with her.

Always loved the song but the original version has a rather lifeless drum machine on it and the song seems to end prematurely as if he's edited the ending.. Thus tended to prefer the live version from the Sign DVD, etc The new slow version is the one for me.. Luvin it!!

I've only heard the guitar solo of the slow version, and personally while it sounded good, until I hear the full version I'm putting it behind the acoustic and original versions.

Slow one is OK but it will never beat the original, it's one of my faves. RIP
