For real.

It was funky, had jams, and overall was pretty consistent. The only song that deserved the hate was the godawful Everybody Loves Me - whether or not he was taking the piss, it still sucked ass.

We got some strong songs:

Beginning Endlessly

Future Soul Song

Sticky Like Glue

Sea Of Everything

Good songs:

Act Of God

Lavaux

Walk In Sand

Aiiiight songs:

Compassion

Hell, even Laydown

Never again songs:

Everybody Loves Me

For someone who "lost it", the strong material FAR outweighed the bad. It was a good effort. Prince chanelled the spirit of that old funk that we were missing (and craving).

Anyone else agree on this one?

sorry - a throw away album for me. I think that wil be the case until he gets some real production and throws away his patch sounds that are getting stale. I'd prefer him get a crack band and record live (not his touring band) in studio. And a producer other than him - one that can steer him clear of his own cliches. McCartney did that with David Kahne back in 2007 and you could tell he pushed McCartney..or that he let him push. Pretty great record out of a guy most would say wouldn't have a cahnce at a brillant record again.

The best thing about Prince is his versatility. He can go from a record like Lotusflow3r (which is more like whta you described above) to 20Ten like it's no biggy. It may not always work, but I admire his attempts.

20Ten was his best album since Lotus Flow3r! Ok, before you think I'm slamming on 20Ten.....I LOVE 20TEN!!! It was a very good, somewhat great album. Lotus Flow3r is one of my favorites ever, but MPLSound is one of my least favorites. Funny how they were packaged together. 20Ten didn't have a bad song on it. I will admit that Sea of Everything, and Everybody Loves Me were kindof not that great, and even Laydown had some weak moments, but my few issues with 20Ten were with the lyrics, or the vocals and vocal arrangements. I think the music on all of the songs was damn good.

Of course, I like or love nearly every Prince album. It's the live performances that drive me insane. One song he seems like the greatest live performer ever, and then the next, the song sounds weak.

Future Soul Song my be my favorite ballad he has done in ages, although The Dance comes close.

Don't worry, all 6 Carolina shows were less than 2 hours, so you won't have to put up with Shelby that long. Despite all my hate for this tour, it still has some amazing moments. It's kind of like a very small all you can eat buffet where some of the food is awesome, and some is just terrible. The crowds in Carolina cheered louder for Play That Funky Muisc than any Prince song. Sad. Not that it is a bad song, but nobody should be happy with Prince playing covers. Especially at a short show.

I saw the Carolina clips and the crowd barely cheered at all-Shelby probably made them sick too-damn! I know folks are gonna come in here and say Im wrong, but when you gotta drop a couple hundred to see Prince all this shouldn't be happening. I mean damn can I hear Prince or the other ladies sing!

I totally agree. I loved it when it came out and I still love it. I don't get why it's so hated here.

After Cause & Effect and Hot Summer, I was expecting a truly shitty album. But what a great surprise 20Ten was! Maybe that was the master plan. Put out 2 shitty songs to lower expectations for the actual album. I guess it didn't work though because it seems like most people here hated it.

Future Soul Song has one of the best melodies and one of the best vocals of his career.

Sticky Like Glue is so funky, smooth and swaggy in a way I didn't think he could be anymore.

Beginning Endlessly is fantastic. The live version from LA was wonderful and made me like it even more.

Act Of God, Lavaux, hell...even Everybody Loves Me. They all bring a smile to my face and I don't care who knows it.

I dig Loutsflow3r a lot.

I just seems sort of...patchy to me. Some songs were brilliant and then followed by "meh" or even boring songs.

I think what makes it so frustrating for me, is that Shelby actually can sing, and has talent. Why she is being forced by Prince to engage in self-parody makes no sense to me. Shouting "Put Your Hands Up," 10 times a night is corny. Doing it over 50 times is self-parody and hard to believe.
