Do you guys know of anywhere I can post 1920 × 1080 resolution files? Photobucket doesn't like them... not sure where or how to post them full size so you can compare.. I have 3 1920 × 1080 screen grabs...

I've checked out the image quality myself from a bit uploaded. It's legit. It's the real deal blu-ray. Same quality as the Purple Rain blu-ray meaning no artificial sharpening or digital cleanup, but it is a true 1920x1080 blu-ray.

I wish I had kept my order now! JBHiFi still has it for sale and I put in an order, but they say it's out of stock. neutral

I got my copy of the Bluray from JB HiF in Sydney while i was there for the concert.

I watch my bluray's with a HD projector and I must say that I was not impressed with the image quality. The image is soft, colors are subdued and definitely NOT remastered. The sound is an improvement over the original DVD, now offering 5.1 TrueHD. There basically is no menu, just a track selection...

From the looks of it, this is probably the worst bluray I have in my collection. I'm happy I was able to get a copy, because of the improved sound, but other than that it's just another collectible. Prince has serious issues regarding the release of a top quality product. For me even his cd's a sub par compared to other artist of his status, and he has his personal studio...maybe that is the problem. He should leave that particular work to professionals. Being a control freak is not always in his best intrests it seems...

It is not digitally enhanced (sharpened or degrained), but in some circles that's better, because that's true to what it looked like in the theater. It's a real 1080p transfer and has more detail than the official DVD. I finally got it ordered, but being overseas, it's probably going to take a few weeks ot get here. I'm looking at some full res samples. The picture quality is on par with Purple Rain, or Clockwork Orange on blu-ray. Most of the softness is actually due to the cheaper lens used on the 35mm cameras during the filming, because when I'm inspecting the image I'm noticing defects like chromatic aberration on many shots which is a problem with the glass lens during shooting (this is all over Clockwork Orange). Visually the way the blu-ray has been authored is actually good in my opinion. I think the original source is of rough quality.

Oh yeah, and U Got the Look is horrendous looking, like a VHS. But that's how it was in the theater too!

it is remastered, as that process needs to take place to create an HD copy of something that previously only had an SD copy. it just hasn't had a huge amount of time spent restoring it

but considering it's age, apart from the you got the look sequence, it looks pretty good for a budget movie that's 25 years old, and i'm glad it has a bluray release as it's a great gig/concert movie

Can anyone confirm that it is Region Free? I see most sites list it as Region B, but I've seen a pic that shows ABC on the back.

Speaking of Sign "O" The Times, have the other 5 songs (that were filmed) ever surfaced?

Then you don't have a lot of Blu-rays. There are some mindbogglingly bad BDs out there, and I'm not talking unknown movies. Just look at the shenanigans WRT "Gladiator". "Teen Wolf" is supposedly lookign worse than its DVD release. Miramax titles released by Echo Bridge are reputedly garbage (wrong aspect ration,...). Terminator still hasn't got a decent release. Batman Begins has a mediocre transfer. Predator got a hack job. The theatrical editions of LOTR were below par. Robocop is barely above DVD-quality. The first edition of The Fifth Element is supposedly horrible.

It played fine on my blu ray player, so it's All-Region.

Which ones were they and were they on the Sign O The Times out takes? I saw that once years ago and can't recall seeing any extra tracks... I just remember a whole heap of diferent camera angles and not very good quality...

Well, I've got about 1500 titles, i normally check before i buy. Being a Prince fan for 30 odd years i jump at the occacion when something new comes out and forgo my due dillingence. That is why i ended up dissapointed and it still is one of my worst bluray titles. Most of the titles you mentioned are not benchmark bluray quality titles and i have a few of them, but they are better than dear old Prince i'm sorry to say. I find the conclusion that you made a bit weird to say the least, you almost hurt my feeling there,...

Out of interest, and assuming you have it, what did you make of the Alien blu-ray?

Can you imagine if Prince took some of his tour money and funded the locating, editing and transfer of those as extended extras on a blu-ray release of the SOTT movie?

What happened to Albert Magnoli these days? He is the ghost director of SOTT. He's on the clapboard as director on all the outtakes.

I've got several versions, becasue it is one of my favorite movies. The most spectacular version is the one in the Anthology box. Amazing detail and crispyness, being a dark movie the amount of detail in this transfer i found to be nothing short of spectacular. For me this is the best version available for now. I also found that out of the 4 movies in the Anthology box, this was the one that impressed me the most. Aliens, Alien 3and Alien Resurrection all got an upgrade but not as spectacular as Alien.

Personally, I could imagine a lot of drooling.

If it did happen, I wonder how it (the clips) would fit into the 'theme' of the movie...

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree.
