Rank and/or rate the songs on Emancipation Lets rank this album, easily his most diverse in terms of quality. I will start.
Disc One
1. Jam of the Year - 7/10 Okay opener 2. Right back here in my arms - 8/10 Pretty good jam 3. Somebody's Somebody - 9/10 Excellent 4. Get Yo Groove On - 5/10 Starts off well enough, but drags on, the Motalbo crap is unnecessary 5. Courtin Time - 9/10 Excellent jazzy Ellington type groove, happy lyrics, great 6. Betcha By Golly wow - 8/10 You either like it or you don't, this is pretty good, great falsetto, but it is sugary and overdone. 7. We gets up - 5/10 Not one for those of us with migraines, the screeching is silly, but great hornz 8. White Mansion - 8/10 Lots of fun, good lyrics and bass lines 9. Damned if I do - 7/10 Fairly good rocker 10. I can't make u love me - 10/10 One of his very best covers, excellent singing and the spoken part, he makes this Bonnie Raitt song his own. 11. Mr Happy - 3/10 Very weak, but a fairly good melody, the rapping is excreable. 12. In this bed I scream - 9/10 - great number, good lyrics
Disc 2
1. Sex in the summer - 8/10 Good rhythm and nice jam 2. One Kiss at a Time - 7/10 Soppy but beautiful ballad, again Mayte is the muse. 3. Soul Sanctuary - 8/10 Another nice ballad and creamy falsetto 4. Emale - 6/10 Strange, awright but nothing that good 5. Curious child - 10/10 I just love this, the balletic arrangements and lyrics, this is hauntingly beautiful 6. Dreamin about u - 8/10 as above but a bit too sugary, still his voice and emotion work well 7. Joint to Joint - 6/10 I agree with the Peach and Black Crew, take out the "Sex Me" rapper and extend the tap solo and you have a 9, still its okay overrall. The taxi chat can go too. 8. The Holy River - 10/10 A supreme song, I just love it, the vocals, the lyrics and the guitar soloing best song on the whole album. 9. Lets Have a baby - 4/10 Huge come down, over the top sugary mess, yuk!!!! Badly done. 10 Saviour - 8/10 Starts off very strong, but he goes beserk near the end bordering on self indulgence with Cream, but it remains a good jam. 11. The Plan - 1/10 Why is this even here, totally bland nonsense, no real inspiration at all, worst track on the album. 12. Friend Lover whatever - 2/10 this is also dreadful, the Mayte stuff is overdone, we get the point, he loves her.
Disc 3
1. Slave - 4/10 Bizarre opener, not that great 2. New World - 4/10 Dated dance track, again its pointless 3. The Human Body - 3/10 again we are obsessed with this dated dance nonsense 4. Face Down - 2/10 Another very morose and badly rapped number, Prince's lyrix and the subject matter are dull. The first 4 trax on this disc amongst his worst ever. 5. La La Means I love you - 7/10 Syrupy cover, falsetto great hornz and feel, but this cover is not as convincing, still satisfactory though. 6. Style - 6/10 Cheeky and funny jam, silly lyrix but okay overrall 7. Sleep around - 7/10 Great pumpy and horn filled dance jam, rather simple but okay song. 8. Da da da - 1/10 Again another very poor rap number, this is really bad an just badly place filler, does not deserve even to be on album. This truly sux. 9. My Computer - 8/10 Great song about loneliness and catchy chorus a good song. 10. One of Us - 10/10 A great cover and excellent guitar work and vocals, one of his best ever covers. I just love it. 11. The Love we make - 10/10 Beautiful and profound song, he sings it with such conviction, another highlight. 12. Emancipation - 7/10 Decent closer, its not bad, but not that good either.
As you can see this album has some amazing stuff and some very dreadful rubbish, I think if he had cut out the wekest 12 tracks he would have had a decent double CD and if all the 8s, 9s and 10s you would have a very good CD.
I will be interested to see what u guys think.
Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I have analysed the discs. I have ranked and marked all 3, my scores are
Disc 1 - 73% = B Disc 2 - 65% = B- (Just) Disc 3 - 57% =C
As you can see Disc one is the best, theres a lot of good songs here and an excellent pair of covers, theres no filler at all except Mr Happy and We gets up and Get yo groove on outstay their welcome, but this is a good but not great CD, if he had just released this, it would have been a bigger hit.
Disc 2 is less good, it has The Holy River, Curious Child and Sex in the summer along with 4 other good numbers, but theres more filler here. Lets have a baby is sappy and the last two tracks are filler, especially the plan, this is nothing, bad elevator music at best. If he had released the two CD's as is, it may have done fairly well
Disc 3 on the other hand is tosh and would rank as one of his worst single albums. A C grade (and a low one) is hardly the album he was born to make. On the plus side we have One of us and The love we make, which are supreme. My computer and La la are pretty good, but 5 songs are just straight filler. Tracks 1 to 4 are virtually unlistenable, and track 8 destroys the period of the good stuff, its sad and a waste. Da da da is up there with the plan as the very worst. Disc 3 could have had all the filler excised. Take out Mr Happy, we gets up and get yo groove on and the Plan from Disc 2 and you would have had a great 2 cd collection.
Overall 195/300 = 65% B- (Jusst) buit with all the inconsistency I will bump it down to a C+. This is a C grade album, not a B one, as the sequencing is terrible. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I doubt you'll get many responses, this is going to take a year to list each song, decide preference, then assign a rating.. it took me 9 minutes.. would have taken longer, if I'd used a 1-10 rating system.
Anyway, my list ranked (best-to-worst) - and I'm not breaking it up by disc:
The Love We Make Soul Sanctuary The Holy River Sleep Around Saviour Jam Of The Year La, La, La Means I Love U
New World Joint 2 Joint Sex In The Summer In This Bed I Scream Betcha By Golly Wow! Dreamin' About U Somebody's Somebody Courtin' Time The Human Body Emale
Damned If I Do I Can't Make U Love Me Curious Child Get Yo Groove On We Gets Up Slave Face Down [It's great live.. not on the album] One Kiss At A Time My Computer One Of Us Right Back Here In My Arms Style Mr. Happy
or Emancipation Da, Da, Da Friend, Lover, Sister Mother/Wife Let's Have A Baby The Plan [And not because it's instrumental; It's boring]
I haven't analyzed my ratings/rankings, but I think all discs are pretty equal. #1 may be a little worse. [Edited 5/6/12 16:27pm]

Sorry, but I haven't had anything to drink (water I mean) to make an educated choice. I enjoy eveything except Sex in the Summer & Let's have a baby as they are too sad because I think of the lost child, so I also rush through. These are the time I wish Prince was so experiemental w/his music like he did with the sound of the baby's heartbeat and orgasim. Prince's Sarah
