Prince's most Santana-like songs? What P songs sound most similar to Santana? I've heard "Damned If I Do" mentioned. No points for saying "Santana Medley"

3 come to mind: Te Amo Corazon (not just because it's got a Spanish title but the overall vibe is kind of mellow Santana); Fury;the guitar solo in The Everlasting Now form the Aladdin dvd.

He even says so himself in the song: "I ill touch u in the softest manner Like Europa in the hans of Santana" and then a very Santana solo...

I agree with the guitar solo on 'The Everlasting Now' (on The Rainbow Children and live), which begins with a latin american percussive style breakdown too. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

The solo in The Everlasting Now always reminds me of Santana but I think lots of Prince's solos are generally. I'm sure I've read guitar players on here say that prince is very like Santana style wise. Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

Joy in Repetition. That guitar solo at the end is very influenced by Santana

Some great suggestions there. Seems like there are many more examples of P doing Santana-esque guitar solos than songs.

I put the rainbow children on at work once and someone made a comment along the lines of "get this santana shit off". I like trc but santana makes me want to boil and eat my own testicles

First time I played Purple rain the song, my dad ran downsrairs and said who's that? I told him Prince and he said, "ah, shit" and went and got two Santana's lps (dude is a santana fanatic) and played them. At that time I was like come on man, I dont hear it (i'm thinking prince was god) but as I got older and my ears expanded, I can clearly hear Santana influence at the end of Purple rain. That whole sonic/space/interlude is pure Santana 2/Abraxas.
