Natural Selection Rumor (for the last time...)
This came up again recently in conversation so hopefully this topic can be laid to rest forever by the experts here...
OK we all know that the released version of the Natural Selection song "Do Anything" clearly isn't Prince's vocal, but what about the bootlegged radio version that sparked the rumors? I'm pretty sure it's Ingred Chavez's voice on it which also fueled the rumor that this was a Prince song.
So to be clear, I'm talking about the original, bootlegged version (the one where you hear the DJ) that circulated through the tape trader crowd in the early '90s, NOT the version that was released commercially with a video in MTV's rotation.
Curious to hear if anyone has any concrete info... Thanks!
(BTW no need to mention "Oh Sheila")

nothing to do with prince. isn't the bootlegged version the same version taken from a radio recording of the normal single mix? wasn't this on an NPG radio show in the late 80s or early 90s?

I'm 90% sure it was a different version -- different vocal take, different lyrics... I certainly could be wrong of course.
Not sure when the first Radio Show was broadcast -- was it as far back as 1991?

I remember when this song first came out.My sister mistakenly thought it was a new Prince song She asked me "Have you heard that great new Prince song "Do Anything For Your Lovin"?

The version they used to play on KDWB back in the day had Ingrid doing the little spoken parts but it was never Prince singing it or doing anything else on it for that matter. "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."
