look forward to hearing this...for me...outside 84 - 86 ..this for me was prince's most creative period...i thought he was on fire during the mid 90s...

Yeah but is it though???? ~ "don'tcha wanna see my 'Tootsie Roll?' Baby I'm sho' you would!" ~

It's very simple. Go to Google, type in the words "Prince 10 000 wallpaper" and hey shitting presto.

I've said it so many times.... GOOGLE is your friend. Use it!! Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

Actually Google was (of course) my first port of call but nada! ~ "don'tcha wanna see my 'Tootsie Roll?' Baby I'm sho' you would!" ~

I agree. 1983-1986 were my favourite years but 1993-1996 were also very impressive.

I'm sure you searched for the title, but, be more creative with search parameters when searching for this bootleg. Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

Also Endorphinmachine with no cow bell - such a better version!! ~ "don'tcha wanna see my 'Tootsie Roll?' Baby I'm sho' you would!" ~

So...can anyone shed any light on the title? It's...odd, to say the least. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

10,000 was a very short lived magazine published by NPG. There was only ever one issue. There was a video tape containing the music on this boot with all kinds of visuals, it was played on the screens at Glam Slam (as wallpaper) during the launch of the magazine.

Indeed, the sound q is excellent. Mad and Funky Design especially sound bangin' as opposed to the official npgmc versions, which sounded anemic to my ears. "Come" (#2) is a masterpiece, especially segued into Endorphinmachine. Pity it was never released that way. Awesome - thank you!
So...an NPG magazine with only one issue? Sounds par for the course, knowing what we do about Prince's attention span. Still, that beats the run of 3121 Magazine! We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Indeed. There was another magazine though, "NPG Magazine." I think there were 4 issues of that. I only have two.

it was a large magazine about 150% of the size of a normal magazine. perhaps a bit like the size NME was after it cut size from being a tabloid. it was just full of photos and logos like the video, and had some poetry/lyrics in it. it was expensive and more like a coffee book type of thing, but a magazine version. nothing in it to actually read
i think i have scans of it somewhere
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
that issues do you have as i have spares of one or two copies i think, maybe them all
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I have 1 & 2. I'm no really bothered about them though. I think I have all those mags on a PDF somewhere.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
i think i have them all on pdf too. i think it's the yellow/gold and blue cover issues i have spares at least, as i was playing around with my scanner with them. the scanner that was used for about 2 days and, well.... gathers dust... but it's a good printer/scanner!

Actually that video that was played at Glam Slam was shown before and after the June 7th, 8th, and 9th 1994 birthday shows. The "launch" of the 10,000 magazine was at the Beautiful Experience concert in Feb 1994, which is where I got my copy. It's very shoddily put together. The bootleg videos I have for those shows have the wallpaper video on them, which came from the orignal source T. At the time of the Beautiful Experience concert it was said that Prince's new band was called 10,000. Obviously that was short lived, and the band wasn't new. I'm not sure what that was all about. Levi, Tony, Damon, and Kirk were gone. TRUE BLUE

Do you have spares for issue 3 the one Wher the cover is him with cane, top hat and Mayte on a cloud?
It's the only issue i'm missing

Oh and was The Truth magazine (small glossy 2 issues) official cause I got given a copy but I don't remember him selling it

So it's "10,000" and not "10.000" (as the flac tags said)? Just keeping my iTunes tidy...
& yeah the sound quality on this is incredible. I swear the "Come" songs sound better here than they do on the retail CD! Amazing!
& yeah Gold without the keyboard counterpoint melody is real interesting to hear. All these versions are great.
Fantastic release, thanks for the heads up on this one.

Same guy that does the FBG releases....
And yes, it's 10,000. The tags are wrong. Busy doin' something close to nothing

i'll check the npg issues
the truth was by the guy who was jailed for bootlegging the black album, who also threw an after"party" saying prince would turn up, but guess what?. i think he had permission to do it but i'm not sure what happened
name was chris dawson. he had a record store called the revolution that sold the kinda of records that hmv wouldn't stock and had a fanclub/fanzine called the crystal ball

Ahhh that explains why I wasn't aware of the origins. I always thought if it was official I would have somehow seen it at the time.
Thanks for checking the NPG mags

I just had my first listen and thought it sounded messy. The guitar was too prominent and too distorted (sounds a bit ironic saying Prince's guitar is too heavily distorted).
Maybe the second listen will show up more. First listen's are inevitable but not always worth commenting on.

amazing release. great soundquality. with releases like this, chocolate box, and the parade testpressing, we're gonna be able to assemble our own perfect quality vault series.
keep them coming people, they're awesome.

This is FUCKING GREAT
Thanks to whoever allowed this to surface!!!
So how many "clean" versions of unreleased mixtapes done by Prince do we have now?
- Parade demos - Box Of Chocolate (assuming the tracklist wasn't fanmade?) - 24 (1988 version, though not as clean in terms of sound, or did I miss a new release?) - Corporate World (though 4DF ruined their otherwisely great effort by extending a song, but maybe this can be edited back using Audacity? IDK, I haven't had the time to check) - 10,000 Wallpaper - Exodus #1 - Exodus #2
Did I forget any other?
What about Madhouse's 24 (1993 version) and Margie Cox' album? Do we have any clean version with (respectively) "17" and "Whistling Kenny" included with a similar sound quality/level? I only have versions without these 2 tracks
