Prince in Pop Culture A movie I watched alot as a kid was Stay Tuned, not exactly rocket science of a picture but one of those parody comedies starring John Ritter, produced in the early 90s.
Anyway rewatched that recently on YouTube, and now as a grown-up Prince fan, I actually the joke now when Ritter puts on the Prince wardrobe from "Gett Off." Of course back then as a tater tot, at best I was only vaguely aware of Prince.
So what other instances of Prince has been referenced, mentioned, (even mocked) in pop culture?

Too many to list. He's been referred to in "The Simpsons" a lot. And in the '80s and even '90s, there were a whole host of references everywhere. The most recent that I know of is the "Muppet Movie" released this past November. The evil guy, Tex Richman, calls Kermit & co. the Artists Formerly Known As the Muppets.

Some doc showed it, but how about that Prince spagetti commercial from the mid-80s which the real Prince threatened to sue over? That was hilarious.

The line in Fresh Prince "Those were the days" Late season 2
"Carlton the photography assignment is due today, you haven't snapped a single picture yet" Carlton sets up a camera on a tripod "Not a problem" The camera on automatic focus snaps several shots of Carlton in narcissictic and coquettish poses "Carlton this is a photography assignment, not a Prince video" Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

^^ These portrayals are why people don't know him as an actual musician; you know, someone who plays guitar and/or instruments and stuff, composes music, and all that stuff.

Most classic is Jamie Foxx's Butt Out jeans from late 1991. It was based on the Gett Off performance where je jad the assless pants and that hideous bandanna thing that made him look like Little Richard's surrogate transvestite son. He also did that ohhwa scream three times in a row. Seriously he was so close to being labelled gay that day. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name
