Pur-lease. The dude has been playing the same lame-ass hits for more than a decade and a half, with bands that are mediocre at best. You really think he's gonna perform an all-new set in Australia, at gigs that have already been announced as GH-shows? With the same mediocre band he's used in the past year or so?

GH is the only way he'd sell out larger arenas. Surely, as much as we dislike his musical output over recent years we should be giving him some props for putting bums on seats?. With no hit singles, dodgy albums that have been distributed very unevenly around the world etc he still manages to shift tix. Whilst that's based on hits from many years ago at least it generates him the $ to pay off his legal bills !!. If you were going to see one of the 'old school' i.e. Stevie Wonder, Elton, Bruce etc surely you'd be more inclined to see a GH gig.

As for the band thing?. I was watching Jack White's all female band on later with jooles and IMHO they too were mediocre at best - what it did allow was me to focus on Jack as a great guitar player / front man. I suspect that these recent bands are as much about that i.e. It's a PRINCE show. Saying that you cannot call a band with Maceo in it mediocre - that's not an IMHO that's just a fact!!.

Exactly. Example: Allphones Arena/ Sydney: 21,000 capacity

Prince's hits are what mainstream wanna hear - he's simply responding to the market to generate his income, which then likely enables him to fund future projects for himself or others. It's not rocket science
