Dance on released now could be a huge hit

Just imagine that Dance on would be released in today's climate of drum and bass and dub step. Some good mixes (perhaps one by Skrillex) and BAM a huge dance hit!

It's interesting to note that the song is currently really hot at the place where I DJ and lots of folks can't believe it's from 1988!!

Can we hear an example of the remix you propose?

"Dance On" is a fairly average track and I can't see it being a hit. Not in 1988 and especially not now.

But we're not talking about pop charts right? Or even outside the uk? Not sure how dubstep is outside of this country. I really like it apparently.

This is the only song on Lovesxy that I'm not crazy about. The drumming is interesting, but the song doesn't really go anywhere.

Sorry don't care for it. Never have. I also fail to see what it has to do with drum n bass or dubstep.

I like Dance On as well as anybody. But a hit - let alone a "huge" one? I doubt it.

Because the drum pattern echos early drum and bass in fact the tune pre-dates DnB. Speed it up a bit and you've got a drum and bass tune. And dubstep has progessed from drum and bass (and is shite)

I've spoke to several drum and bass fans over the years who've mentioned dance on in relation to drum and bass.

With the right remix by the right high profile producer, yes of course it could be a hit. If dance remixes of dirty dancing shit can hit the charts so could this.

Any song could be a hit if you completely strip away the music that already exists and replace it with a remixed track that sounds exactly like what's popular.

I'm not sure why that would be a special circumstance with "Dance On" in particular.
