Yes, the Prince team is officially now on Twitter with the handle @Prince_NPG

But it's interesting to note that as on date there are only about 1482 followers following @Prince_NPG.

The reason perhaps is that people still feel that it may be a fake account.

Our friend @drfunkenberry has however tacitly confirmed to me that this is the closest we could officially get to the Purple One on Twitter.

Well he deleted the one tweet that he made, so I'd be patient until he (rather whoever he has do it for him) actually tweets some more.

But its good to see that he's now following his band and Dr.Funkenberry.. its a start.

Something like.. "We're off 2 C the wizard".. It was right when the announcement of teh W2A shows were announced. Few days later it vanished

Listen, I totally agree with you, however, I do get a lot of information from Twitter in real time. I have a FB account but hardly go on it (it is a family thing, all my peeps are on it). As far as Twitter, I have a Twitter account that I do use on the regular because alot of Prince info has been posted on there via Doc Fb. Now, not disrespecting Prince.org, but sometimes things are faster on Twiter than here..

That would be too much of a sweeping statement and equivalent to declaring all twitter users as 'childish'.

It is also not just about mundane stuff and lot many of us use twitter for serious and professional discussions.

Things are fast enough here for me. I don't think I'll be missing much by picking up info a half hour or so later.

and @iloveannie. I agree that social networks can bring out the childish in people but that isn't a new phenomenon, that's just the internet for you. It's the same here, it's the same everywhere.

I agree that the org gets info from various sources faster than it would take me to go to all the other sites myself. And honestly what Prince announcements are so urgent that I need to be the first one to know?

Now if he starts doing pop-up performances in small clubs and only announces them via twitter a few minutes before the show starts, then I'm signing up!
