Prince's Worst/Bests Albums...

I would Like to Know Your Opinions about this since I'm A "Baby fan" (I'm His fan Since November, 2011, I'm 16 years Old And I'm from Venezuela... Yep, I missed all the good stuff)

When I Embraced the Purple Side Hearing When Doves cry for the first time, My Mother told me to hear All his albums One by one In Chronological Order... That's the Best Advice that your mother can give 2 you Ever! lol

I heard the First ones, For you, Dirty Mind, Prince (I had A Heart attack when I heard Bambi), controversy, 1999 and Purple Rain excited and That Just sended everything to the Back Burner, You know? I thought: "Hell no, this man Is the Shit!!"

And then: ATWIAD, Parade, SOTT, Lovesexy drool3 -----> me with this face A whole Month xD

to me 1985/1988 is his best period, Artistically, Do you think Like Me?

I'm Following My mother's Advice so the Only album I havent heard yet is 20Ten Because it's the last One. The only Song I heard of 20ten Its Future Soul song And It's beautiful.

To me, There are no Filler Songs In his Albums, There are No Generic Songs. I mean, there are some lazy Lyrics and Such, But Every Album Has three or Maybe four Gems in it.

Some people Hate Alphabet street, Graffiti bridge, Strollin', Jughead, 3 chains o' gold, Ol skool company... Dude I love that ones!

Well, My favorite album it's Musicology. I Mean he prooved to the haters with that one that he is still Kicking! and I love ALL The songs of that albums Without Exception.

The Worst album to me... No, Im not going to say "Graffiti bridge",That album's got a lot of great stuff

Some Opinions? Some advices to this New Fan?

If you haven't already yet, you should check out his work with his side projects/proteges--especially The Time, Sheila E., and Jill Jones.

Hey GIO, it's great that you've discovered Prince.. Always nice to see a new fan.

I'm surprised that Musicology is your favourite album. I personally think that's one of his weakest. However, I certainly enjoyed Prince's next album '3121', probably his best 00's album (in my opinion).

As a fan for over 20 years, I would suggest you listen to all of Prince's albums first, (don't forget the internet only albums 'The Chocolate Invasion and 'The Slaughterhouse'. Both worth a listen), then seek out Prince's B-Sides. Make sure you listen to '17 Days' and the full length version of 'Erotic City'. Both Purple Rain era B-sides and incredible songs.

It's also worth seeking out extended versions, such as 'anotherloverholenyohead', 'mountains', 'She's always in my hair', 'Thieves in the temple' and 'Raspberry beret'..

..then listen to the albums Prince wrote and produced for other artists. They are essentially Prince albums without Prince on vocals.

They best ones in my opinion are:

All the 'The Time' albums: The Time, What Time Is It? and Ice Cream Castles. (Created between 81-84 period)

The Vanity 6 and Apollonia 6 albums.

The Jill Jones album.

The Sheila E's album: The Glamourous Life (Also check out the song 'A Love Bizarre'. The only song Prince wrote for her 'Romance 1600' album)

The Family Album 'The Family'.

After you've finished listening to them, you still have a wealth of brilliant unreleased bootleg material to listen too. I'm not really allowed to say where you can get them, but I can say Youtube is a great way to find things wink

A few outtakes worth listening to: Extraloveable (the original version, not the new one), Wonderful Ass, Rebirth of the Flesh, Player, Alexa De Paris, Open Book.. and many many more..

There's so much more to Prince than his released albums, so you should have plenty more to discover. I hope this helps you out.
