3. Would you be happy if the music was released offically by Prince on VINYL / CD / DVD?

hmmm your asking a prince "fan" site whether we would be happy with him releasing his unreleasd works

let me get back to you on that rolleyes

4. How would you feel about an independent, Prince-authorised, biography to accompany the release?

indiffrent

5. Which, as yet unreleased, 7 live DVDs (Blu-ray) would you like to accompany the release?

this question doesnt really make sense does it?

"as yet unreleased" Prince has every single performance pro filmed.

6. How much would you pay Prince to have your own copy of GENIUS: A Gift of GOD? e.g. $1,999.00

what a thoroughly revolting title.........

7. How many people in total do you think would purchase the set at that price? e.g. 500,000

with that title?

$2000 for a 3 vinyl set of unreleased material? I hope you are jesting with us.

I don't think for one moment that even the most die hard lunatic would pay even anything close to that price.

Try $50, tops!

TheDigitalGardener,

Yours is a good query.

$1999.00 is a potential price that has been suggested for the product. However, like yourself, I blinked.

Therefore, I was wondering what you would pay for:

1. 3 Double Records / 3 Double CDs / 1 DVD of unreleased Prince music (e.g. above)

2. 7, as yet unreleased, live DVD's of specific tours + associated aftershows (Blue-ray)

3. 1, 200-page, illustrated and photographed, independent Prince-authorised biography

And how many people do you think would buy it at your suggested price?

love,

Spirit

databank,

The originally suggested retail price, which I blinked at, of $1,999.00 x an estimated 500,000 copies sold of the product, equals?

Are you asking if Prince is paying attention?

You do the math.

jackmitz,

Don't Say You Love Me wasn't, at that stage, deemed a GENIUS* unreleased Prince song. Open Book and Witness 4 The Prosecution, however, were included.

Out of curiosity, what would you realistically pay for:

1. 3 Double Records / 3 Double CDs / 1 DVD of unreleased Prince music (e.g. above)

2. 7, as yet unreleased, live DVD's of specific tours + associated aftershows (Blue-ray)

3. 1, 200-page, illustrated and photographed, independent Prince-authorised biography

Apologies,

I've just been informed by the power that is, that the originally brainstormed retail price would be £199.90 (not $1,999.0)!

$199.90 for:

1. 3 Double Records / 3 Double CDs / 1 DVD of unreleased Prince music (e.g. above)

2. 7, as yet unreleased, live DVD's of specific tours + associated aftershows (Blue-ray)

3. 1, 200-page, illustrated and photographed, independent Prince-authorised biography

Would you find it too expensive or good value?

Would you have considered paying more?

Spirit

Yours is a useful critique; however, I can see that there are plenty of nonsense threads at the .Org.

It guess it depends on who is the arbitrator on sense.

Ok, I'll change tack.

I thought nonsense, misleading and 'rumour' threads weren't allowed on the org.

If this thread is factually based on a genuine product that is due out, then fine. If it isn't, then as far as I'm concerned (and hopefully the mods), your original post will most definitely fit into misleading, false rumour spreading and as a result, be judged nonsense.

Given that fairly decent copies of all those tracks are already freely avilable, I wouldn't be in a rush to purchase them at all. Especially not in vinyl format. This is a digital world now. 99 cents a track max for me.

funksterr,

EXCELLENT point; unfortunately, the 'true' cache value of The Vault is dwindling, by the day, especially with the advent of digital, and free, distribution channels. However, the original creative concept was for this to be a "retrospective" landmark project; hence, for example, the potential inclusion of deluxe Vinyl, with extensive artwork and liner notes (you know, when albums by true artists used to be 'works of art', with fully fledged concepts and storytelling).

From previous posts by yourself:

Title: 'PRINCE | UNRELEASED MUSIC | THE BEST OF...'

no hint that this is a 'what if...' or 'what I'd like to see' thread.

From your initial post:

1. Which tracks would you like to see included/rejected from the release?

3. Would you be happy if the music was released offically by Prince on VINYL / CD / DVD?

4. How would you feel about an independent, Prince-authorised, biography to accompany the release?

5. Which, as yet unreleased, 7 live DVDs (Blu-ray) would you like to accompany the release?

6. How much would you pay Prince to have your own copy of GENIUS: A Gift of GOD? e.g. $199.90

Again, no hint that your post is a 'what if' and instead insinuates that there will be a release of this to coincide with your 'independent, prince-authorised biography'

your next post, in reply to thedigitalgardener:

$1999.00 is a potential price that has been suggested for the product. However, like yourself, I blinked.

This suggests that the information you have 'been supplied' has come from someone else regarding a product, rather than it just being a 'what if' thread.

A further post:

I've just been informed by the power that is, that the originally brainstormed retail price would be £199.90 (not $1,999.0)!

Again, implying that your are being 'fed' this information, which may be true, but it's more likely to be from your invisible friend than Prince.

and finally, your sig:

GENIUS* | A Gift of GOD | An inspiring psychohistoriography of Prince by Dr Anjan Nath | For further information, see + GENIUS

which links to a page with a photo of Prince and more vague 'hints' at a release of unofficial material.

blah blah blah

Thank you for your feedback.

Given that you prefer the phrase, "What if..."

WHAT IF you had spent as much time as you have just done contributing to the substantive content and questions contained in the thread?

Certain individuals prefer the glass half-full, but, alas, your choice.

It's nothing to do with glasses half full, it's do do with having to cut through copious layers of bullshit to get to the truth. It's bad enough when Prince does his 'cryptic' nonsense, without all and sundry following suit.

Now if you'd have said 'What if Prince released this as a retrospective 'Vault' album?', I'd have complimented you on your tracklisting.

Maybe next time.

erik319,

Thanks for the compliment, but Prince will always be Prince, as you will always be you, as I will always be I. So, in that respect, I appreciate your patience.

Given that you appear to like aspects of the proposed tracklist, do you have any particular songs that you would have preferred, either in addition to or instead of? And are there songs here that you would have preferred not to be included on such a project?

Of course, you may now choose to disappear from contributing to the substantive aspect to the thread, in which case, I hope you're enjoying your Easter bank holiday.

I would pay the 199 bucks for this but realisticly it would have to include the the remix version of come and the original Days Of Wild 6 minute version.

7 concert blue rays would be

Diamonds & Pearls (Earls Court or Paris)

ACT I (Chicago)

Gold Tour (Wembley)

Conga Room LA 2009

Birthday Parade unedited

Musicology Detroit

best aftershow moments disc spanning entire career

Book (cool as long as it contained a new interview with Prince and current band members)

Oh and please please please change the title it's awfull

chopingard,

Unfortunately, for the time being, the retrospective project is to focus on songs, albums and concerts within the Warner Brother's years.

However, if it were feasible (naturally, with Prince's consent), without doubt, Come, Endorphinmachine, Space and Days of Wild would DEFINITELY be included, to name but a few choice examples.

Regarding the title, can you think of a better one?

Ok Revision

I would pay the 199 bucks for this but it would have to have, Mind Bells, Soul Psychodelicide version 4, Me Touch Myself, Come Outside and play, Alphabet Street Blues and Acoustic demo of Thieves In The Temple

7 concert blue rays would be

Capri Theatre (filmed by WB apparently) both concerts on one disc

Second Coming movie

ACT II Birmingham (where he plays come race and johnny as encore)

Diamonds & Pearls (Earls Court or Paris)

ACT I (Chicago)

Birthday Parade unedited

best aftershow moments disc spanning entire WB career to include the 1991 concert he done in the WB car park

Book (cool as long as it contained a new interview with Prince and current band members)

Oh and please please please change the title it's awfull, The paisley Vault or something like that would be much better

chopingard,

Interesting suggestions, thank you.

The tracks you mentioned:

Mindbells

Soul Psychodelicide #4

Me Touch Myself

Come Outside and Play

Alphabet Street Blues

Thieves In The Temple (Acoustic)

...were all considered. Of these choices, Soul Psychodelicide and Me Touch Myself were the closest to being originally included (I, personally, love Soul Psychodelicide). But, everything is being revised on a routine basis, so thank you for the reminder!

Regarding live DVDs, the original idea was to have a mainstream show/movie as Disc 1 of each of the 7 DVD sets, with Disc 2 of each 7 DVD set featuring a full aftershow from that era. Of the ideas you've mentioned:

Capri

The Second Coming

but especially The Parade Show (in its entirity)

...are very close to the mark; the other shows/eras you suggested were not considered of GENIUS* quality in terms of creative concept, execution and, overall, wow factor for both a general and fan-base audience. By contrast, and to give you an example, the 1987 New Year's show with Miles Davis is definitely a contender for inclusion.

Your suggested title for the project, "The Paisley Vault", is rather good, so thank you for broadening our horizons!

love,

Spirit
