Leaving for New York - OMG this song is so pretty!!!! Has anyone heard this old outtake from the late 70s/early 80s that Prince did called "Leaving for New York" Simple a brilliant little piano ballad. The chorus is wonderful: "though I said I'd never leave U/this is something that I must do..." Apparently its a true story song about him breaking up with his girl so he can go to New York to find a (yikes) recording contract.
Anyone else feel me on this? I'd love to see him do this song live.. ***************************************************
Seems like the overly critical people are the sheep now days. It takes guts to admit that you like something. -Rdhull ...it ain't where ya from, it's where ya at... - Rakim | |

This is a really wonderful tune - I love it! This song was recorded in 1976 during the so called "Moonsound-Sessions". It's interesting to see how Prince seams to have a look back to his "Piano/Acoustic"-Origins at least with the ONA-Ablum. -----------------------------------------
