Prince's verbal idiosyncracies

Just a few observations after watching a number of interviews with Prince over the years:

Firstly, he tends to use 'we' a lot instead of 'I' when asked questions about his music (maybe it's modesty and wanting to share the credit with his bandmates).

Secondly, he says 'so to speak' a hell of a lot.

Can you think of any other verbal or non-verbal idiosyncracies that Prince has when speaking or being interviewed?

He has a very unique lyrical way of putting things, and it's especially apparent in his songwriting

I was kissing Valentino by a crystal blue Italian stream...

Nobody knows like I know

Where the deepest part of your river flows

Snap SnapUndo these nylon hose

Around your thigh my finger goes slowly

Like a cat tip-toes

Until I reach the capstone

My pants were wet, they came off
But she didn't see the movie
Cuz she hadn't read the book first
Instead she pretended she was blind
An affliction brought on by a witch's curse

Welcome, this is where I live
This is where I dream my dreams
2night we'll make love until the world stops turning
U're small but very strong
U move like a cat: quickly but gentle
So insane
He caressed her in her eyes and licked her abdomen
She shivered with delight
Over and over she nibbled his ear
U'd think it was wrong 2 have so much fun
He held her tightly until it almost hurt
But his hips, they moved so slowly

So U found me
Good, I'm glad
This is Prince
The cool of cools
Some of U may not know this
But some of U may know
Some of U may not want 2 know
We r here 2 do service
Please don't try 2 stop us
4 we come regardless
4 we r strong as we r intelligent

There are many more examples of course, but lyrically he's on some other plane. Too often we see pop music lyrics that are so predicatable, but with Prince there's always the element of surprise...

"So fierce U look 2night, the brightest star pales 2 Ur sex..."

Do you mean When He's Talking? Or when he's Performing?

The one that comes to My Mind Are "Speaking Of Which", "On the one"...

He uses "umm" a lot during interviews.

When he is asked does he listen to other artists music other than his own and he'll name whoever is on top of the pop tart charts at that moment. rolleyes Yeah right Prince. I could hardly imagine him dancing around Paisley Park singing "Crazy in Love" by Beyawnsay.

When he hypes up shitty albums.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Ok. Good for you. But I seriously doubts he does. We can agree to disagree, it's ok. biggrin
