So it was 2001 and my mom and I went to see Prince at Joe Louis Arena. We were really running late, and didn't have tickets, but I figured we would be able to catch a scalper trying to dump some tickets for cheap.

Unfortunately, we got there as the concert started, so the scalpers were gone. But there was a guy standing outside and holding some Will Call Tickets (they closed the walkup booths). We were able to snag some decent tickets from radio promos that weren't picked up, but we ended up paying a little more than we wanted.

The concert was great, as usual, but it was the afterparty in the downstairs restaurant/bar area inside of the Joe that was awesome. One of the guys from the Fonky Baldheads was DJing, and I was hanging out and talking to him. It wasn't long before Prince came on through and came up to the DJ booth! He played "High" and got everybody jamming, then started to hang near me as the DJ area was kinda crowded.

Well, I guess I wasn't really acting like a fool, because he told me I could come on back to the side area that was closed off. I told him I'd come on back in a bit as I was waiting for my mom to come back from the restroom and he was like hey no problem. His bodyguard shook my hand and they went on back.

When my mom came back we went over to the side area and knocked on the door. Through the glass, the body gaurd waved us through. I looked at my mom and said "ready?" She said "go ahead!" I told her Open the Door, get on the floor, everybody walk the dinosaur. ;-}
